Passed away peacefully at the Northumberland Hills Hospital on Sunday, April 5th, 2015 at the age of 79. Donald is predeceased by his parents, Allan and Pearl Watson of Lethbridge, Alberta.

Donald is survived by his loving wife, Vera, of 56 years.

They were married in Rossland, British Columbia on September 6th, 1958.

Donald is lovingly remembered by his children, Mark, Scott, Kim and Kristi, (in-law) Debbie, Hugh and James; grandchildren Treena, Donald, Tyler, Luke, Claire, Liam, Nicholas, James, Jeffrey and Jacob; sister and brother-in-law Margaret and Jerry Truscott; niece and nephew Leslie and Brent.

Donald was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, on May 15th, 1935.

He graduated from Kimberley High School in 1953 and went on to earn a Degree in Electrical Engineering at the University of British Columbia.

Donald began his career with Ontario Hydro in May of 1959. 

Starting in Eastern Region as a junior engineer, he later became a customer service supervisor, and in 1966 he was named Douglas Point Health Physicist.

In 1968 he became Senior Health Physicist at the Pickering Nuclear Plant.

After several positions in Management in the Health, Safety Services and Distribution-Systems Departments, he became Eastern Region Director of Ontario Hydro in 1985. 

Donald retired in 1999 and moved on to become President and CEO of Great Lakes Power in Sault Ste. Marie.

Donald had a passion for the arts and enjoyed judo, hobby farming, canoeing and any other athletic pursuits his knees would withstand.

He was a family man, a leader of the pack and a gentle soul who offered love and support to everyone around him.

The celebration of Donald's life is open to all friends and family and will be held at his family home, 753 Prince of Wales Drive in Cobourg, Ontario, K9A 5X8 on Saturday, April 11th from 1 to 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Red Cross.
