Original alert: 6 p.m.

Snowfall warning in effect for:
  • Agawa - Lake Superior Park
  • Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay

Snowfall, with total amounts of 15 to 20 cm is expected.

Snow heavy at times associated with a low tracking across far northern Ontario will continue to affect the region this evening. Snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm have fallen so far and another 5 to 10 cm is expected before the snow tapers off overnight.

Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow. Public Safety Canada encourages everyone to make an emergency plan and get an emergency kit with drinking water, food, medicine, a first-aid kit and a flashlight. For information on emergency plans and kits go to http://www.getprepared.gc.ca/

Snowfall Warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Environment Canada meteorologists will update alerts as required, so stay tuned to your local media or Weatheradio. Email reports of severe weather to [email protected] or tweet with the hashtag #ONStorm.
