The deadline to order a delicious pasta take-out dinner from the Delta Sault Ste. Marie Waterfront Hotel, for a very worthy cause, is approaching.

The pasta take-out dinner is a fundraiser to help with expenses for Sault Ste. Marie's Campioni family as their daughter Angela, 17, bravely continues her long battle with leukemia in Ottawa, awaiting a bone-marrow transplant.

Angela's mother, Celena, works in the Delta's housekeeping department.

"We're doing something to support Celena, one of our Delta family…she's family and she needs help," said Kevin Wyer, Delta general manager.

"We (Delta staff) just talked about how bad we felt for Angela and the family, and the strain it must be on them all…we thought 'let's go big' and do a take-out pasta dinner and see if we can come up with something substantial enough from a dollar perspective to help the family."

Angela's family (her father, her mother Celena and two brothers) have been by her side in Ottawa providing love and support throughout the battle.

One of Angela's brothers (it has not been revealed which) will be the donor in the bone-marrow transplant procedure.

The deadline to place an order for a pasta take-out dinner is Thursday at 5 p.m.

Orders can be placed by phone by calling the Delta  at 705-945-6223.

Dinners may be picked up at the Delta between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday March 27 (cash only, ATM available on site).

People placing take-out orders are being asked to let the Delta staff know at what time during those hours on Friday they expect to pick up their orders.

Cost is $20 for a take-out for two.

All proceeds will go to the Campioni family.

Anyone wanting to support Angela and her family may also do so online

"We can provide people an economical dinner to pick up and take home and we can produce a higher number at the take-out level as opposed to trying to organizing something in a meeting room or the restaurant," Wyer said.

"This is only a small token but every one of us (Delta staff) think about Angela and the whole family every day, and they have all of our positive thoughts coming their way."

"We're around 100 take-out orders so far and staff are collecting more numbers today, I really believe we'll do more than 150 and I would love to hit 200."

"That would really send a great message to the Campioni family that it's not just the Delta, but that the whole community is stepping up and supporting them," Wyer said.
