'Change for Change' a huge success at Our Lady of Lourdes

Students in the Grade 5/6 class at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School wrapped up a fundraiser for Easter Seals just prior to the March Break.

It took only a few days for students to organize the 'Change for Change' fundraiser which ran for just over two weeks. 

The idea was for students to lead the fundraiser by giving up some of the change they may have to help local children with special needs. 

The fundraiser was integrated into classroom learning with the Grade 5/6 students using graphs to monitor daily donations by each class. 

They also improved their language skills by writing and reading announcements promoting the campaign.

When all of the counting was complete the Our Lady of Lourdes 'Change for Change' campaign raised $1,469.10!

Carolyn O'Connor, Events Manager of the local chapter of Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, was very impressed with the students efforts and the support that was shown by the school community for the cause.

The efforts of Ms. Carbone's Grade 5/6 class will be recognized during the Rotary Easter Seals Telethon live TV broadcast which will be held Sunday, March 29 on Shaw TV.
