Three students injured in school bus crash

On March 3, 2015 at approximately 1 p.m., officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Highway 108 near Nordic Mine Road south of Elliot Lake.  

A small school bus carrying 13 children and two adults from a local school had collided with a pick-up truck. 

Three students suffered minor injuries but all students were transported to hospital as a precautionary measure.

The driver of the truck was also transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries. 

As a result, Highway 108 is closed to traffic in both directions from Esten Drive South to Highway 17 and there is no detour available. 

The highway is expected to be closed for up to six hours while the collision is investigated.

This collision is currently under investigation by officers from the East Algoma OPP Detachment with the assistance of the Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI).
