SAULT AREA HOSPITAL FOUNDATION

Having excellent cardiac services available at our community hospital is unbelievably important.

The Sault Area Hospital Foundation (SAHF) is focused on ensuring the medical professionals at the Sault Area Hospital (SAH) have the equipment necessary to provide excellence in healthcare delivery to the patients of our community.

In regards to cardiac services, SAHF is fundraising to replace aging portable cardiac monitoring systems which ensure the patient’s heart is monitored with precision during transport throughout SAH.

There are 14 cardiac monitoring systems out of the 30 owned by SAH that need to be replaced; each system costing $8,000.

The Heart of Gold Gala & Auction is presented by Arauco and will help raise the funds required to replace these essential devices.

However the event is also in support of a very important project concerning the cardiac services available to the people of the Algoma District.

SAH has presented a proposal to the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) to have angioplasty procedures performed locally. 

Having these services available here in Sault Ste. Marie will reduce the impact on the patient caused by travel (usually to Sudbury or Toronto) and limits any additional cardiac procedures. If and when angioplasty is approved, donations from the community will help purchase any medical equipment essential to this program.

The Heart of Gold Gala & Auction presented by Arauco is being held on March 28th 2015 at the Comfort Suites and Quattro Conference Centre.

This social gathering includes: live music, silent and live auctions, appetizers, an elegant beef tenderloin dinner and a cash bar.
