ELLIOT LAKE – On February 19, 2015 officers from the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of members from the East Algoma OPP Crime Unit, an OPP Canine Unit along with the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Branch (OCEB) executed a search warrant under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act at a residence on Ottawa Avenue in Elliot Lake. 

As a result of the search warrant police seized 101 Cannabis Marijuana Plants with a value of $101,000 and an improperly stored rifle. 

As a result, Tyrone Samuel WOOD, 34 years of age from Elliot Lake, has been charged with the following offences:

  • Production of a schedule II substance, Section 7(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act
  • Unauthorized Possession of a firearm, Section 91(1) Criminal Code of Canada and
  • Careless storage of a firearm, Section 86(1) Criminal Code of Canada 

The accused is scheduled to appear in Elliot Lake Provincial Court on April 7, 2015 to answer to the charges.
