OTTAWA – On January 21, 2015, MP Bryan Hayes gathered a group of local stakeholders at his constituency office in Sault Ste. Marie in a roundtable forum to share ideas and suggestions for the 2015 federal budget.

The participating stakeholders were:  Michael Marinovich - KPMG, Jason Collins - RBB Innovations, Robert Cohen - Soo Foundry, Geoff Meakin - Meakin Forestry, Don Mitchell – Economic Development Corporation Board Chair/Algoma Insurance, Franco Pastore - EPOH, Randy Tallon -NOA Consultant SSM/Algoma, Tom Vair - Innovation Centre E.D.

Pre-budget consultations play an important role in helping to identify key priorities for the next phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan.

Some of the topics discussed consisted of, but were not limited to, The Ring of Fire, FedNor programming, the need for education and training programs, immigration and capital infrastructure projects.

The stakeholders who participated in the roundtable discussion unanimously agreed that the topics discussed are imperative for a stronger economic climate in Northern Ontario.

“Consulting directly with Canadians is an integral part of the budget process,” said MP Hayes. “Many of the ideas brought forward in local pre-budget meetings have been included in the actual federal budget. We encourage everyone to participate.”

Budget 2015 will continue to build on the positive momentum of the Conservative Government’s strong record of job creation, economic growth, and fiscal responsibility.

As we return to balanced budgets, MP Bryan Hayes encourages Saultites to share their views on a variety of key issues facing Canada today online at the following link:  http://www.bryanhayes.ca/news/riding-news/mp-hayes-wants-to-hear-from-you---2015-pre-budget-consultations.
