City councillors will be asked to pass a resolution Monday calling on Algoma Public Health's board for a report that, among other things, outlines the process it used to hire its former interim chief financial officer.
The resolution, proposed by Ward 2 Councillor Susan Myers and Ward 3 Councillor Matthew Shoemaker, calls for APH to present the findings of a financial audit to council.
The councillors are also asking that the city call for information about APH's financial audit and its probe into the security of employee personal information.
The request comes two days after Dr. Kim Barker resigned as the district's medical officer of health and CEO of APH amid reports that a man named Shaun Rothberg who served as APH's interim chief financial officer for six months turned out to be Shaun Rootenberg, a convicted fraudster.
Barker told SooToday last week that APH hired Rothberg through a consulting company and was not aware of the man's past.
The resolution comes as Health Minister Eric Hoskins has ordered an audit of APH's finances and an assessment of the board.
MPP David Orazietti called on the health ministry for an in-depth look into APH's board and the hiring scandal.
In the meantime, Dr. Penny Sutcliffe, MOH and CEO of the Sudbury and District Health Unit, will take over Barker's duties as MOH on an interim basis.
Connie Free, APH's chief nursing officer and director of clinical services, will take over the CEO's role.
