ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

*************************
Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service (SSMPS) are pleased to announce the second year of Operation All Dressed Up! Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District assisting Grade 8 and Grade 12 girls prepare for upcoming graduation ceremonies.

There has been an identified need for formal attire for graduation and prom for many girls within the community.

Graduation and prom are rites of passage and important for all youth.

This is one way of helping to eliminate social barriers and bring everyone together.

With the support of community partners and the community itself, this initiative will foster positive self-esteem in our youth, eliminate some of the anxiety girl’s experience when preparing for these ceremonies and ease the financial strain on families that accompany graduation and prom events.

The OPP and SSMPS are looking for donations of gently used and or new formal dresses purchased between 2010 and 2015 to assist with this initiative.

Accessories anyone wishes to donate towards making a young girl’s special day memorable will also be accepted.

They are also looking for the assistance of interested Community Partners in this endeavor.

If you see yourself or your business as a partner, all donations will be gratefully accepted and acknowledged.

Operation All Dressed Up! Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma District is scheduled for Sunday, April 12, 2015 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Algoma’s Watertower Inn.

Students must call ahead and book an appointment.

Walk-Ins are welcome after 3 p.m.

Local drop off points for donated items include the Sault Ste. Marie Police Services Building at 580 Second Line East or the Ontario Provincial Police Sault Ste. Marie Detachment at 742 Great Northern Road.
