Sault Ste. Marie MPP David Orazietti and Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne met with new Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Christian Provenzano this afternoon to discuss Sault area issues.

“I am pleased with the productive meeting that Premier Wynne and I had with Mayor Provenzano, as we were able to discuss a number of issues which are critical to our city,” said Orazietti.

“This is the fourth time the Premier has come to Sault Ste. Marie since being sworn-in and meetings such as this continue to demonstrate our government’s commitment to our community.”

The meeting today was the first official meeting between the new Mayor and the Premier. At the meeting Minister Orazietti and Mayor Provenzano were able to discuss with the Premier issues which are important to Sault Ste. Marie, such as:

· Essar Steel Algoma – Plant Optimization, Capacity Expansion and Deep-Water Port

· OLG  Modernization

· Job opportunities

· Government infrastructure investments

· Northern Industrial Energy Rate Program (NIERP)

· Northern Ontario Highways

· Growth Plan for Northern Ontario

“I thank Minister Orazietti and the Premier for their time today,” said Mayor Christian Provenzano. “We had a good discussion on a number of different topics and I am satisfied that they are aware of and sensitive to Sault Ste. Marie’s concerns and Sault Ste. Marie’s opportunities and I look forward to working with the Minister and the Premier to address both.”
