17-year-old charged with arson (4 photos)

At approximately 2:30 a.m. today, Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fires Services were called to a garage fire located in the 300 block of Albert Street West.

At approximately 2:30 a.m. today, Sault Ste. Marie Police and Fires Services were called to a garage fire located in the 300 block of Albert Street West.

Reader-submitted photos show the garage destroyed by fire and an adjacent home that sustained damage as a result of the fire.

Staff Sergeant Mike Kenopic told SooToday.com that the incident remains under investigation by Investigation Services and the office of the Fire Marshall.

Staff Sergeant Kenopic said a 17-year-old youth has been charged with arson and is scheduled to appear in bail court Monday, December 22, 2014.

The youth was treated at hospital for minor injuries in relation to the incident.
