There have been smiling faces, laughter, and tears. So many happy tears. Village Media is six days into its 12 Days of Christmas Random Acts of Kindness giving spree and the stories we have amassed on LOCAL2 will warm your heart.

There have been smiling faces, laughter, and tears.

So many happy tears.

Village Media is six days into its 12 Days of Christmas Random Acts of Kindness giving spree and the stories we have amassed on LOCAL2 will warm your heart.

There are six more days to go, so stay tuned.

In the meantime, below are links to the videos we have posted so far:

On the sixth day of Christmas, a gift for a volunteer

This heart warmer is the perfect way to begin our 6th day of the 12 Days of Christmas - Random Acts of Kindness. Ian Ganton is a well-known and dedicated volunteer who contributes of his time and often from his own wallet to create exhibits, displays and props for local theatre productions. He is always ready to lend a hand to our local community organizations. Ian's wife is battling cancer and his undying love and strength supports her. The Algoma Water Tower Inn thought they deserved a night out with a hotel stay and dinner and breakfast provided by Casey's. They have also generously donated a $200 gift certificate to The Medicine Shoppe (Great Northern Rd. location) to help with medical expenses. The Medicine Shoppe also matched this gift with their own $200 gift certificate.

On the fifth day of Christmas, John can continue with creativity

To say that John Hornstein is your typical artist would be an understatement. The walls of his home are lined with his beautiful artwork. Sadly, just over 5 years ago, John was in a terrible bicycle accident that left him a quadriplegic. We wanted to lift his spirits this holiday season so Santa Shaylan surprised John with a brand new quad-mouse courtesy of our anonymous donor. He will now be able to continue to do the thing he loves with the help of this special computer aid. Merry Christmas John.

On the fifth day of Christmas, Santa Jasmyn Visits Vinson

Santa Jasmyn is once again celebrating the youth of our community. Vinson Equizi is a dedicated student at St. Basil Secondary School and has received the Lou Lukenda bursary award for his strong academic standing coupled with his strong leadership skills. Vinson has been working hard to save for his post-secondary education often working 4-6 shifts a week at his part-time job. He would like to pursue a formal education in diagnostic sonography at Cambrian College. Our anonymous donor has provided for a $500 bursary for his post-secondary education. Congratulations Vinson!

On the fourth day of Christmas, an unexpected surprise for an expecting mom

Day 4 also brings Santa Jasmyn to Emily Lippe's door. It has been a particularly difficult year for the Lippe and Mangone families. Emily lost her fiancee in a tragic accident earlier this year and is expecting their first child. In her fiancee's honour, our anonymous sponsor has provided a $500 trust account for their new baby along with a $250 gift certificate to Stork and Bundle (including a $100 contribution from the store).

Since the taping of this segment, Emily has given birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl. Congratulations to the Lippe and Mangone families!

On the fourth day of Christmas, Santa Jasmyn visits a loving neighbour

Elby is the perfect neighbour as declared by his local community. Now retired, he is an avid gardener and always willing to lend a helping hand whether offering advice on planting, sharing his tomato crop, or snow-blowing his neighbours driveways. DIG and NORPRO have rewarded this heart warmer for his thoughtfulness with a $100 gift card for Canadian Tire and $50 in Tim Hortons gift cards respectively.

On the third day of Christmas, Santa Shaylan visits the Elks

It's Santa Shaylan's turn to bring on the cheer factor! The Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge #341 provide transportation services to members of our community with their Elks Royal Purple Oncology Vehicle. The program which is delivered entirely by volunteers and relies on charitable donations, shuttles local cancer patients to their appointments and where needed to Sudbury and back for their treatments. McDougall Energy wants to help defer some of the costs of running this valuable community service and they have provided $500 in gas cards for the program!

On the third day of Christmas Holly gets a jolly visit

We're already on Day 3 of our 12 Days of Christmas feature! In this webisode, Santa Jasmyn reminds us that hard work pays off. Holly Tennant is an active high school student who volunteers her time with her school's yearbook committee and student council. She completed her co-op placement with the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre and was part of the organizing committee for the 2014 Energy Opportunities Conference. Our "anonymous donor" has provided for a $500 bursary for her post-secondary education. Congratulations Holly!

On the second day of Christmas Andree gets a surprise

For this 12 Days of Christmas surprise, Santa Jasmyn visited Andree Tremblay. This extraordinary woman has been a foster parent in our community for over 40 years and at 70 years young, she continues to give from the heart. Andree is a breast cancer survivor and a mastectomy patient. In honour of her generous spirit, our "anonymous donor" has provided her with $550 to spend on a new prothesis at Body First.

On the first day of Christmas, we pay a visit to Lora Lee

The first stop on our 12 Days of Christmas 2014 tour was a visit with Lora Lee Matheson-Serre. The single mother of two who works with the Red Cross is especially deserving of a little holiday pick me up this year. Solo Trattoria has provided the Matheson-Serre family with a $50 gift certificate and Lucidia is treating the family to a VIP box at an upcoming Greyhound game along with a $250 voucher for food services!!
