NEWS RELEASE

SAULT ROTARACT CLUB

*************************
Thanks to overwhelming community support, the Sault Rotaract Club was able to create and deliver over 70 holiday care packs today for the men at St. Vincent’s Place – a homeless men’s shelter in Sault Ste. Marie.

This is more than double their original goal of 30 packs.

Each care pack started with a sturdy backpack the men can continue to use when they leave the shelter, and contained a variety of hygiene, entertainment and comfort items, including:

2 pairs of socks, a toque, a pair of mitts or gloves, a scarf, a blanket, a small towel, a pack of playing cards, a novel, a puzzle book, a notebook, a pen or pencil, a variety of snacks, shampoo and soap, deodorant, a toothbrush, toothpaste, a comb, q-tips, a first aid kit, nail clippers, kleenex, lip balm, and more.

In addition to this, the club was able to contribute another 8 boxes of overflow items, including travel-sized toiletries, shaving supplies, additional backpacks and duffel bags, and more.

The club would like to extend their sincere thanks to everyone in the community who contributed to this project.

Thank you to the Rotary Club of Sault Ste. Marie, the Rotary Office staff, and both ScotiaBank branches for their efforts with the community collection of items and donations.

Thank you to Kylie Wigmore of “Simply Sorted” for her efforts in sorting, counting and organizing every item that was purchased or donated for this project.

Finally, they would like to especially thank the following individuals and businesses for their generous contributions:
