Sault Ste Marie Aquatic Club (SSMAC) was presented this week with a $10,000 donation from the RBC Learn to Play programme.

Local RBC branch managers were on hand to provide official recognition as a partner to SSMAC’s mandate of enhancing children and youth fitness and physical literacy.

Grant monies will go towards new programs for targeted populations and support the ‘Kick Start’ program, igniting the next generation of athletes passion towards the sport of swimming competitively in Sault Ste Marie.

SSMAC is very proud to carry the RBC learn to play banner and through this support will expose local participants to an activity that can be enjoyed life long.

SSMAC has a long local tradition of supporting amateur athletes in their pursuit of performance, healthy lifestyles and skilled learning for all ages and stages of swimmer.

Our program has a forty year history in providing swimmers a chance to grow and develop through a evidence based long term athlete development approach.

SSMAC’s history of certified professional coaching, qualified officials and volunteers, with excellent hosting facilities and innovation through programming was a basis for meeting the criteria in the RBC program.

SSMAC president and past president, Marion Widgett and Diane Mohammadi were integral to ensuring that RBC Learn to Play criteria were congruent with SSMAC programs.

SSMAC’s partnership with RBC Learn to Play and Canada’s national day in sport, last month has had a impact on over eighty athletes.

SSMAC will continue to announce and expand programs and initiatives in the 2015 competitive calendar.

SSMAC would like to thank local, regional and national representatives from RBC and their continued faith in SSMAC programs and initiatives.
