Updated Information

Further investigation has since revealed that one of the accused persons charged below was not involved or responsible for the theft.

Officers have determined that 28-year old Amanda Shawana was not involved in the incident and investigators are seeking another individual who impersonated Amanda Shawana.

The charges against Amanda Shawana will not be proceeded with.

City police officers were called to the Wal-Mart on Bay Street early last evening regarding 3 females detained by store security for theft.

It is alleged that 43-year-old Shannon Edwards of Henrietta Street left the store without paying for a bed sheet set valued at just under $200.

In the second incident, it is alleged 28-year-old Amanda Shawana of Huron Street walked throughout the store placing various items valued over $100 into a bag and then leaving the store without paying for these items.

The third incident involved 31-year-old Julie Kelly of Albert Street East stealing over $900 worth of merchandise before being apprehended by store security.

All three thefts occurred within an hour of each other and were all unrelated.

All 3 accused will be appearing in Provincial Court on November 17
