Chance to Win a $1,000 Scholarship

Algoma University invites all prospective students and their families to attend their fall Open House Fair, on Tuesday, November 4 starting at 7 p.m. in the Great West Life Amphitheatre.

Those in attendance will have a chance to win a $1,000 scholarship to the University.

The University encourages local students from both the Algoma District School Board and Huron Superior Catholic District School Board, as well as college diploma-to-degree students, to attend the Fall Open House Fair to learn about the benefits of attending their local university.

Students will learn about the University’s programs, great student-faculty engagement, and interactive classroom environments.

They will also get to meet faculty and current students.

The Open House Fair will also feature faculty and program presentations, as well as information on student clubs, varsity athletics and recreation, study abroad, financial aid, co-operative education, and much more.

For local students, the attraction of attending Algoma U comes not only from the unique, personalized student experience, but also its close proximity to home.

Local students have the opportunity to play varsity sports, get involved in student government (the Algoma University Students’ Union), and travel the world through exchange opportunities, all while living in their hometown.

“Our open house allows students from the Sault Ste. Marie area to see firsthand what Algoma U offers,” said Director of Student Recruitment, Brent Krmpotich. “Our students receive an outstanding education, and have access to a variety of opportunities not readily available at larger post-secondary institutions, including research positions, teaching assistantships, lucrative entrance scholarships, and one-on-one interactions with knowledgeable faculty.”

The event kicks off at 7 p.m. in the Great West Life Amphitheatre with a welcome address by the University’s President, Dr. Richard Myers.
