NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO COALITION FOR
BETTER CHILD CARE

*************************
Because Sault Ste Marie just can’t work without it

Working parents of young children and those who work with them depend on child care.

On Monday, municipalities across Ontario will vote in new councillors and school board trustees.

These elected representatives hold significant decision-making responsibility for child care and early learning programs.

The Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care is running a campaign to ensure that all elected councillors and trustees are ready to take positive action for child care in their communities.

"I depend on child care. Therefore, I'm depending on my councillor to commit to better child care for all," said local Ontario Coalition for Better Child Care volunteer and parent Shauna Weston.

Local volunteers for the organization have asked municipal election candidates if they can be depended on to commit to better child care for all.

All mayoral and council candidates to pledge to:

  • Develop positive relationships with child care centres.
