NEWS RELEASE

ALGOMA UNIVERSITY

*************************
Get blasted with colour Saturday, October 18 at 10 a.m.!

As part of Algoma University's annual Homecoming celebrations, the University will be hosting the second annual Algoma U Colour Dash in support of the Algoma Residential Community Hospice (ARCH) and Algoma University Thunderbirds Varsity Student-Athletics Awards.

Students, alumni, and the general public can get blasted with coloured dye in the annual spirited fun-run.

The 2.5- or 5-kilometre event around campus allows community members to get out, get active, and have fun, all while helping build a stronger community for everyone to enjoy.

Runners of all skill levels are invited to participate. Remember, the goal is to have fun with family and friends.

Last year, over 200 people registered in the inaugural Algoma U Colour Dash.

"After the amazing success of the event last year, we're very pleased to be hosting the second annual Algoma U Colour Dash," said Paul Skeggs, Chair of the Algoma University Homecoming Committee.

"With the collaboration of the community and the University, we are able to bring these unique and exciting events to campus. The Algoma U Colour Dash is a great demonstration of an activity that promotes health and wellness while also allowing students and community members to raise money for great causes."

Registration for Algoma University and Algoma regional students is $10, adults pay $15.

Children five years and under are free.

Participants are strongly encouraged to register online in advance at www.algomau.ca/colourdash

Souvenir colour dash t-shirts will be available for the first 200 adults and the first 50 children registered.

Dash Day packages for those who have pre-registered will be available for pick-up at the Station Mall (293 Bay Street) outside of The Athlete's Foot on Friday, October 17 between 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

Participants can also register between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. the day of the event.
