The following obituary was issued today for Gary Morettin, the Sault Ste. Marie man reported missing last week in the Wawa area:

MORETTIN, Gary – Friends and family are invited to the Arthur Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Thursday, October 2, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m to share memories and celebrate the life of a cherished husband and father.

Loving husband and best friend of Lorraine for 35 years.

Kind and caring father of Dan and Kelly.

Beloved son of the late Duke and Shirley Morettin.

Dear brother of Linda Morettin and the late Donald.

Brother-in-law of Heather Socchia (late Michael) and Jennifer Fortin.

Gary will be sadly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins and many dear friends.

Memorial contributions to the Sault Search & Rescue or VCARS would be appreciated by the family.

The search, which was called off this morning, is considered "inconclusive" according to Ontario Provincial Police in Wawa.

WAWA -  On Saturday September 27, 2014 The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) and the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) ended their search effort for missing person Gary Morettin, age 58, of Sault Ste Marie Ontario.

It was decided to call off the search until new evidence or information arises.

The search began on Tuesday September 16, 2014 near the Black Beaver Lake area.

Police extensively searched the area with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), the Air Support (Helicopter) and members of the Superior East Wawa Detachment.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Superior East Wawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or (705) 856-2233.
