To make Sault Ste. Marie a truly successful city, we must be able to keep the young people here, and we must also be able to attract more young people.

Unfortunately, in recent years, Sault Ste. Marie has been unable to attract youth.

Young people come here to learn in our college and our university, and after graduation, a large majority of them leave this City because we have very little to offer.

There are no real youth hangout spots.

There are no real retail choices.

And most importantly, there are next to NO JOBS.

Creating jobs should be every candidate's number one priority.

Since the late 1990's, successive City Councils and the Economic Development Corporation have done fairly little in trying to attract stable and permanent employers to this City.

If elected, I will work tirelessly to lobby companies to come to Sault Ste. Marie and to stay in Sault Ste. Marie.

Part of a Mayor's job is to do business on behalf of the City. To represent the City.

To bring jobs to the City.

The Mayor does have an important role in pitching Sault Ste. Marie to companies that are looking to locate their business here.

Again, if elected, I will work very hard to bring much-needed jobs to Sault Ste. Marie.

If we can bring jobs, we can bring youth. And if we can bring youth, we as a City can prosper.

If you trust me with your vote on October 27, I will work with the youth of this City.

I will personally be involved in youth forums, and I will also appoint a Youth Outreach Representative to engage with young people in this city.

This representative will report to Council each month, and will inform Council of the most important youth issues.

Council will discuss those issues and I as Mayor will propose that we act on those issues.

The Council will then look at making Sault Ste. Marie a more youth-friendly City.

Sault Ste. Marie as a border city has great potential.

It really is a shame that in the past two decades this City has been declining.

On October 27, the stakes couldn't be higher. The people of this City have a choice: Continue with the same old policies that have led to our once-great City's decline, or move in a new, progressive direction.

If you vote for the old policies, Sault Ste. Marie's population will shrink. Businesses will continue to leave. The unemployment rate will shoot up.

The youth will continue to be neglected.

We cannot afford four more years of these old policies.

It's time to choose a new path, and I ask for you to trust me to lead this City to the path to prosperity.

A vote for Heather is a vote for better.
