CANADIAN CANCER SOCIETY, ALGOMA UNIT
The Canadian Cancer Society is pleased to announce their Fall Cancer Peer Support Group for all individuals touched by cancer.
This group is open to past or present cancer patients, caregivers, and anyone who identifies as needing some support due to their experience with cancer.
Participants will benefit from the experience and support of other individuals going through similar experiences with cancer.
In addition to the care and support of others who 'have been there', the open, relaxed and confidential group setting provides an opportunity to learn important information, helpful coping skills, resources and share in open discussions on topics of interest to the group.
This FREE eight-week program will help participants:
- Better deal with the emotional, physical and social aspects of having cancer or caring for someone with cancer.
- Gain insight into how to communicate more effectively with members of health care teams, medical facilities, social agencies, etc.
- Discover how to maintain a healthy lifestyle through developing skills to better manage stress, problem solve and set goals.
This is a FREE support group for anyone 18 years of age or older that has had an experience with cancer.
The program will run every Wednesday for eight weeks, starting September 17, 2014, going from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Canadian Cancer Society office, located at 390 McNabb St. Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
Registration is required, and space is limited to 12 participants.
