NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

*************************
ELLIOT LAKE – The East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police is warning people not to fall victim of the scam that is circulating in the area.

Police have received reports that area residents are being telephoned and advised they have won a vehicle and that a test drive has been scheduled at a local dealership.

The caller then advises that for you to claim the vehicle you must send them a cash amount to a provided address.

Be aware this is a scam, don’t be fooled.

Anytime you are asked to pay something as a result of you winning a draw or competition it is most likely a scam.

Do not provide the caller with any personal information or send any money.

FRAUD...Recognize it ...Report it ...Stop it.
