Orazietti: Keep Sault Ste. Marie moving forward

NEWS RELEASE

LIBERAL CANDIDATE DAVID ORAZIETTI

*************************
Re-elect David Orazietti to keep Sault Ste. Marie moving forward
Voting NDP splits votes and helps Hudak make cuts

SAULT STE. MARIE - Ontario Liberals have the strongest plan to keep Ontario moving forward and are the only party that can stop Tim Hudak’s deep cuts to Sault Ste. Marie, announced Liberal candidate David Orazietti.

“This election, Sault residents have a real choice to make about the kind of future we want for our city,” said Orazietti. “We know the PC’s are promising to cut 100,000 jobs in Ontario, including almost 1,400 in Sault Ste. Marie, and it’s clear the NDP do not have a plan to grow our economy and build upon the progress we have made over the last ten years in health care and education. In a close provincial race, voting for the NDP will help Tim Hudak get elected and carry out his reckless plan to cut jobs and provincial services Sault families rely on.”

Every poll that has been conducted since the start of this election campaign shows that provincially, Horwath’s NDP is a distant third, and cannot stop the Hudak PC’s. Only the Ontario Liberal party can stop Hudak’s deep cuts in Sault Ste. Marie.

The Ontario Liberal plan builds upon the progressive measures detailed in the 2014 Budget and makes the following investments to keep Ontario moving forward:

  • $2.5 billion Jobs and Prosperity Fund to strengthen Ontario’s ability to attract business investments and support quality, well-paying jobs
  • $130 billion infrastructure plan, including $29 billion for transportation infrastructure which will support the 4-laning of Highway 17
  • $295 million for the Ontario Youth Jobs Strategy to support skills and training
  • Maintaining the Northern Industrial Energy Rate Program (NIERP), an important electricity cost savings program helping companies like Essar Steel Algoma, Tenaris Tubes and Flakeboard Ltd.
  • $100 million in annual funding for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to support local job creation
  • $1 billion for the development of all-season infrastructure in the Ring of Fire
  • $750 million additional investment in homecare and community care services for seniors
  • Increasing wages for Personal Support Worked (PSWs) and Early Childhood Educators (ECEs)
  • Creating an Ontario Retirement Pension Plan (ORPP) that cost-effectively builds on the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) in order to support Ontarians as they age
  • $150 million for new technology and learning tools in schools
  • Increasing the Ontario Child Benefit (OCB) to $1,310 per child per year, and indexing the threshold to inflation

I smell an NDP local victory. Voters need to punish David O and the Liberals and have no trust in Hudak...who will gut jobs and ignores the |North.

Sorry Dave but along with the fact that Ms. Wynn is a poor role model for young women it's going to be difficult to vote for a party that has done nothing but burden the TAX PAYERS with an excessive cost of living associated with hydro electric rates. Liberalism does not work and to vote anything other than CONSERVATIVE is illogical.

Keep Sault Moving Forward ? With all the secrets in this town , no honesty from one Government to the other in this town, who do you trust.? Not to mention that the public or any one else for that mater was informed that the windmill where erected in the fly pass of migrating birds, that was kept hush hush , Talking about windmills to whos benefit where they erected ? and who is paying for all that ? How about the deforestation that goes on around here and the logs are never harvest, as on Whittman dam road. I could go on and on It is an important part in our environment and has a big impact on it. Do we need to have a new toll bridge and all this unnecessary Supper Schools for this small town ? Our roads are in desperate need of repairs so how about common sense . We need new Industries coming to the Soo for Jobs
Stevie-E 6/12/2014 9:45:44 AM Report

NDP supporters = socialist movement.

You guys are a bit crazy and don't have the mental toolset to think and act on your own. You only go by what other NDP supporters are saying and doing; not following up and embellishing facts...puppets incapable of coming up with an original thought. "Let's follow our union brothers so we can take down big business to even the playing field." The sad part is that NDP supporters are biting the hand that feeds them. Big business can very well leave Ontario altogether for greener pastures. David has done more for this community than NDP has ever done. This "rampant" spending you criticize...is really called "investment". Spending is required to build a future. NDP will never win this election because of their woe is me attitude.

Sorry...it's down to PC or Libs for me.

Oreo...

Please enlighten us as to how Ms. Wynne is a poor role model for young girls. She has reached the highest job in her field. In an arena which has historically been dominated by men? So please do tell? (I already know you're answer)but I want to hear it from you!

MYPOINT 6/12/2014 10:14:59 AM Report

@ DEREK

Yes indeed, Nurses DO remember LIEBERAL days ( past 4 years with a pay FREEZE and a further pay FREEZE if they somehow get re-elected this time around after all of the latest scandals)!

You mention Rae Days but you fail to recognize that Rae is and probably always was a LIEBERAL at heart! You also fail to recognize that Rae also inherited a total mess left by a former PC Government.

Please get your facts straight before making ridiculous comments? Thank you.

Moving forward to BANKRUPCY is where the Liberals will take us!

It is heart wrenching to see and feel the pain of fellow Ontarians breaking down in tears as they explain how the Liberal government drove them from their homes. But to understand how cold and callous our current political leadership is in this province, you need to experience it.

Reckless, agenda-driven politics resulting in shattered lives. The Ontario Liberal government’s Green Energy Act isn’t just an economic failure; it is an act of brutal indifference to the human cost of politics.

A cost ignored by people living far from the thump of the giant wind turbines, secure in their downtown Toronto homes and politically correct theories. A so-called green energy – that the jobs promised by the Liberals through their Green Energy Act were never delivered, while the cost of hydro skyrocketed. NEVER would I vote for a party that supports this. PC is the only solution!
let's make a difference this time!
Twist Of Fate 6/12/2014 12:09:50 PM Report

Can everyone please stop talking about Rae Days come on people that was 20 years ago. All parties from what I can tell are in favor of further wage freezes so that is irrelevant. We need a government that can bring this province out of the gutter we find ourselves in. We the taxpayers simply cannot afford any more useless spending or more taxes.
eadiecougs 6/12/2014 1:11:53 PM Report

busy paying for big government, all these social programs if you want a future for your kids you must cut the fat, tighten the spending, reduce energy high prices cut the size of the government without this no party will ever fix Ontario

Orazietti came to my door, so I asked him about the cuts to ODSP. (disability pension). He danced around it and then blamed it on the city, meanwhile it is a provincial issue. Sorry sir, but a firm handshake and a smile cannot mask the fact you lied to me through your teeth. I just got done voting NDP, and boy am I glad I did. I do not like he conservatives, the liberals have obviously failed us, and there is no way the green party is getting elected anywhere any time soon. So, I took the lesser of the three evils...

That being said Mr.Orazietti was at least nice while he was lying to me... so I am sure he is a nice person.

Where are the 1400 Government People employed that D.O. speaks of? Surely he does not mean the Lottery.
If he was a good rep the head office of the lottery would be in the Soo. The CEO would be working out of the building on Bay Street Sault Ste Marie. If he does not want to move to the Soo fire him and hire someone that will work here. Make it a firm part of being considered for the job.
Get some guts David
