Read this if you take the Riverside bus

Monday, June 09, 2014   by: SooToday.com Staff

Sault Ste. Marie Transit Services wrote to let us know that from Wednesday to Friday this week, the outbound and inbound Riverside buses won’t be servicing Queen Street East between Elizabeth Street and Shannon Road.

That’s because Queen Street East will be closed from Lake Street to Shannon during that time due to sanitary sewer replacement work Pioneer Construction is doing just east of the Algoma University entrance.

During that time, outbound Riverside will use:

  • Queen to McGregor to Wellington to Shannon to Queen

Inbound Riverside will use:

  • Queen to Shannon to Wellington to McGregor to Queen

Algoma University will only be serviced by the Sault College Route.

Meanwhile, those looking to access Algoma U.’s main entrance will have to do so from the west side, while those accessing the other Queen Street entrance will need to come from the east.

If you have any questions about the bus route changes, call 705-759-5438.

Is this the same joke of a company that has been working for going on 3 years now on the rest of Queen Street? Hopefully they do a good job seeing as the stretch of Queen from Lake to the Golf course is going to be repaved. Would hate to see that it gets dug up in the near future to make additional repairs.

I am pretty sure the horrendous job done on Queen was by Boyer Construction. I hope city hall learned from that mistake and never re-hires that mess again. Same company did South Market and it was horrendous as well.

It is amazing that it will be the end of August before one block from Riverview to Pine will be completed.

Hopefully they keep in mind that there are overhead wires on that street. lol.

@Javaman

You noticed that to. Maybe the contractor bit off more then he could chew? By the time Queen is finally done, Wellington and the other roads will need redoing because of all the diverted traffic.

I don’t understand how it can take a whole summer to accomplish so little. Oh wait, half the time no one is even working on the road. You would think they were doing the construction all by hand.

Queen is a major artery, if some local contractor couldn’t get it done in a reasonable time frame, they should have gotten another contractor. You would almost think this is Quebec, a mobbed up municipal bureaucracy and construction industry. Either that or who ever is responsible for road maintenance is a halfwit.

If this was Toronto...one block would be done in 3 days max.
