Four people who think David is the best

Ontario Liberals Investing in Jobs, People and Communities

Today, Liberal candidate David Orazietti welcomed support from the leadership of local unions for the Ontario Liberal plan for job creation.

“A key part of our economic plan involves investing $130 billion over ten years to build new infrastructure and create new jobs,” said Orazietti. “Our plan will keep Sault Ste. Marie working and moving forward while renewing and upgrading our roads, bridges, hospitals and schools.”

The Ontario Liberals infrastructure plan includes a $29 billion dedicated fund for transportation infrastructure, which would support the four-laning of Highway 17, as well as $11.4 billion for major hospital expansion or redevelopment and $11 billion in new schools and repairs.

Province-wide, the Liberal infrastructure plan will support 110,000 jobs each year.

“David is an effective representative for the interests of workers in our city and has succeeded in securing many local infrastructure projects for Sault Ste. Marie that keep people working and benefit the community as a whole. It is important that we elect a representative who will advocate for further investments in our city and David is the right person for that job.”

-        Wayne Scott, Business Manager, Labourers International Union of North America Local 1036

“The Liberal plan to invest $130 billion in public infrastructure will help to drive economic growth in Northern communities by creating good jobs over the next ten years. We need to support a government that supports the economic success of our cities, and David has proven himself to be an effective advocate for provincial investments in Sault Ste. Marie.”

-        Tom Cardinal, Area Manager, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 2486

“Working in the construction industry I have frequent interaction with the provincial government and its agencies. David is always recognized through these contacts as being an energetic champion of his Sault Ste. Marie riding. The construction industry is a vital part of the economy of Ontario. David and the Ontario Liberal party are recognized for working very hard to be even handed with both workers and management to keep this sector of the economy strong. Hudak’s unbelievable campaign slogan of a “Million jobs” and his “Right to work for less” policy that he no longer has the courage to talk about openly, will hurt the workers, the families and the economy of this province beyond imagination.”

-        Norm Pascall, Business Agent, Plumbers and Pipefitters UA Local 800

“David Orazietti has been a strong advocate for provincial investments and Sault Ste. Marie, and the Liberal plan to invest an additional $130 billion over ten years will ensure that our city continues to prosper. The Liberal infrastructure plan will create quality jobs in our city and support important upgrades to infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges and schools.”

-        James Micks, Business Representative, International Union of Painters and Allied Trades Local 1904

Ontario Liberals are also committed to the following initiatives to support jobs and the economy:

  • $2.5 billion Jobs and Prosperity Fund to strengthen Ontario’s ability to attract business investments and support quality, well-paying jobs
  • $295 million for the Ontario Youth Jobs Strategy to support skills and training
  • Maintaining the Northern Industrial Energy Rate Program (NIERP), an important electricity cost savings program helping companies like Essar Steel Algoma, Tenaris Tubes and Flakeboard Ltd.
  • $100 million in annual funding for the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) to support local job creation
  • $1 billion for the development of all-season infrastructure in the Ring of Fire

“Our party has delivered new infrastructure and improved public services year after year for Sault residents,” said Orazietti. “With the PC’s promising to cut public services and layoff nearly 1400 workers in our city, and the unemployment rate hitting 19% under former NDP representation, its clear our party has the strongest plan to move Sault Ste. Marie forward.”

Liberals or NDP, which party can spend the most and drive this once prosperous province further into debt. can't tell these two parties apart.

It's not about who's the best or worst, or who deserves to be at Queen's Park. It's about a good paying, great place to work, that Queen's Park.
derb222 6/9/2014 4:42:36 PM Report

What!! a decade of power isn't enough time to have created jobs. Just spend us into debt and lower education. This party is messed up. Enough Bull from the Liberal government.
Javaman 6/9/2014 4:53:12 PM Report

David should be paying for these ads.

I am puzzeled, why is it every election the politicians are creating jobs/employment, I think its to get votes duh. David is creating employment, infrastructure repairs, keeping public services intact
Hudak says 1 million people woke up this morning and are out of work, I think he means the 1 million people on social assistance in the province, he is going to put them to work while cutting 100,000 public sector jobs, if he is going to cut those jobs than he should start at the top because the frontline public servants aren't causing the deficit.
irishfey 6/9/2014 5:34:14 PM Report

That must have been one hell of a lunch and don't forget the BOOZE that David spent ( on our dime ) getting these guys to stand up with him!.. Wonder where he took them, must have been Stateside if David paid for it himself!!... Best move over there David as you're done here in Canada!!!
Justin Tetreault 6/9/2014 5:35:22 PM Report

Wow. You know an NDP campaign is going badly when even the unions are jumping ship. No wonder Andrea Horwath won't come to Sault Ste. Marie

streaker 6/9/2014 8:36:24 PM Report

Gurpy the hospital was built by a 3m corporation and is being maintained by them including ellis-don. A great hospital
if you like lying on a cot in the hall!!
Thanks David "O"
Gurpy 6/9/2014 9:05:00 PM Report

I was at our new hospital for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I had sworn I`d never set foot in the place. Beautiful facility with every light on in the place! That`s got to be costing a pretty penny! I`m currently in a crisis situation. An out of town friend told me to contact my mpp. Hey! I`m honest and told this friend our mpp couldn`t give a f---k! I speak the TRUTH and make no apologies! We don`t have an mpp! Hopefully come Thursday we will!
Gurpy 6/9/2014 9:07:59 PM Report

I really should rephrase my post. If one kisses the right butts, one will get results. I don`t and won`t kiss anyones butt therefore, I suffer and do it all with DIGNITY!
Much better!

David O and the Libs had 8 years to create jobs.
Big Pete 6/10/2014 12:03:31 AM Report

Too bad we've forgotten our Labour history in Ontario. The Harris government rescinds Labour laws that were enacted during the NDP reign. The middle-class begins to erode. The Liberals campaign like Socialists promising to reintroduce these laws but never do once elected. The erosion of the middle-class continues. They do however feed these trade labour unions with contracts at the expense of others. Short term gains under the guise of divide and conquer and not Solidarity. I can assure you the sheep will change colour when the contracts run out, can no longer organize and wonder where the SCABS are coming from. From a true Labour point of view, David and Tim are one and the same and even look like their related. And the erosion of the middle-class will continue...our society will be factualized and class warfare will set in...and Justin's of the World will blame the NDP.
Javaman 6/10/2014 7:03:51 AM Report

It is refreshing to know David has 4 supporters willing to give their names.
LAWL 6/10/2014 1:15:57 PM Report

All of the gravy government backed construction projects are done. Now the over-payed and under-skilled union workers are begging for more. Of course they promote David O. Tax payer coffers spitting out useless construction projects that are over-priced by 30%.

There will never be another good private sector until a government slashes 20-30% of its own work force. The private sector and public sector are not even close to at par as far as the pay scale goes. You can thank the unions for that. Some government employees get 6-8 weeks paid vacation. To me that is just bizarre. Time for a change....
MYPOINT 6/10/2014 1:27:30 PM Report

The Liberals cost my wife any increase in pay for the past 4 years and yet they increased their own pays during this period.

Our current M.P.P. brags because he got a new hospital built here. Of course, it was built in the wrong place and in way too much of a hurry. I wonder how many of the public know that the new hospital is actually sinking ( oh wait, the public is not supposed to know that information so please just ask anyone working on 3C about the floors and most of the windows having to be repaired or replaced because that part of the hospital is now sinking into the quagmire below)?

I was a loyal Liberal supporter for many years but this latest bunch have ruined the Ontario I grew up in and love. The PC's would probably be even worse so I shall vote NDP this time around.

I dare 'SooToday' ( or any of you ) to actually go and ask anyone who works on 3C at the hospital if they have heard anything about the new hospital sinking because some idiot put the footings in the wrong place.

As always, your views may differ :)
Justin Tetreault 6/11/2014 1:54:51 AM Report

MPP salaries were frozen from 2009 until 2014, so it's not right to say that Liberals increased their own pay.

In fact, Liberals wanted to keep the freeze in place until 2019, but they were outvoted by the PC and NDP who wanted their raise.
