Moose on the loose

Friday, June 06, 2014   by: Staff received the above photo of a moose from loyal reader Christine, who spotted the animal walking down her street.

It isn't the only moose report has heard today.

A young moose made a visit to Holy Cross Catholic School on Texas Avenue early this morning.

School officials say no students were in the area, but an arriving teacher is said to have been rather surprised by the animal's presence in the parking lot.

From Christine:

Hi! I was looking out my front window on Lorraine Avenue in the east end of the city, and there was a moose in the street! So I figured I'd send you a picture.

The flies are way beyond bad.
If you're driving the highway at all, watch out, the moose are wandering out onto it steady right now, the flies are driving them mad.

My opinion.... we have moved so far into their domain that they have decided to come into ours.
Can't beat them join them...

I saw 3 moose on the highway north yesterday. One was dead... the vehicle looked like a write-off. The police cruiser was on the scene. It happened just past the warning lights below the mile hill. The other two were seen at around 800am & 700pm. This time of year, it's not only at night you have to watch for moose! The black flies were so thick, I had to wear a screen hat on the lake!

glad to see there was nobody wanting the
moose shot like that poor old lynx that was wandering around. I would be more worried about the damage the moose would cause than that lynx. Were in the North I for one love seeing the wildlife

Hey, the moose looks right at home. Leave him alone. It's his town too.

There have been moose in that area before. A few years ago I was riding my bike through the SJD property and an MNR Co was parked near the wooded area, advising me not to ride that trail as there was a moose in there.

Wildlife of all sizes make their way through wooded areas and fields more often than most people are aware.

The bugs are sooo bad this year can't even go outside during the day they are that careful driving everywhere, the animals are on the roads and the highways, and bad accident on the island last night. Not sure what happened but my money is on a deer!

Shoot that moose in the kneecap and put it out of its misery...they should not be trespassing on our city streets...fill the soup kitchens freezers up.
