I'm In 6/3/2014 5:00:12 PM Report

Their first offer was $2000.00 bonus, 2% wage increase year 2 and 3, better holidays, better language for 12 hour shifts, it must be nice to turn that down, hopefully Tenaris won't close shop as they have tube mills all over the world.
The Youth Online Club 6/3/2014 6:08:47 PM Report

We will see what the offer is tomorrow. There are a couple different rumours I heard of. I hope they get a % for the first year instead of a signing bonus. I also hope the pension increases. We'll see.
Electricdude 6/3/2014 7:00:38 PM Report

good job guys, united we stand devided we beg
Sault34 6/3/2014 7:00:57 PM Report

1750$ bonus.....1%, 2% and 2%. Also 5 cents first, second and third year in pension.
Opstday 6/3/2014 7:01:19 PM Report

I don't think anyone should be complaining about wages and benefits at Tenaris. What is the average wage there?
The Youth Online Club 6/3/2014 7:17:57 PM Report

How do you make a judgement before you know the average wage?
The Youth Online Club 6/3/2014 7:27:06 PM Report

Sault34 I wonder why the company decreased the bonus? It would have been an easy sell. Not sure how this will go tomorrow. Keeping fingers crossed.
kodak11 6/3/2014 7:45:26 PM Report

a signing bonus is foolish.....roll the 2000$ into the base wage then the next bargaining will start that much higher,AND MAKE SURE THE EXECUTIVE NEVER EXTENDS THE LENGTH OF A CONTRACT WITHOUT THE MEMBERSHIP VOTING ON IT......THEY WORK FOR YOU!!!!!
Koolaid 6/3/2014 8:45:51 PM Report

Well.. we all knew they would get what they wanted. The company bends over to the union once more, because they weigh their options.. either lose money or give in. Unions know this is so with large corporations, so they hold them hostage and pretty much ask for a ransom. or they will kill their baby.
Dead End Kid 6/3/2014 9:38:50 PM Report

When the company is making big money at contract time I always root for the worker.
HONEST1 6/3/2014 10:30:26 PM Report

Thats great!!! Good to see workers getting there fair share.
canadiens_8 6/3/2014 11:48:17 PM Report

I can not stand people that go on strike and whine and complain about what they have and how it isn't enough. If you do not like your job, then go get another one. There are THOUSANDS of people that would do your job and not say a word. 10% unemployment rate in this are and you people bitch about this....pathetic.
kingzilla 6/4/2014 5:20:39 AM Report

canadians- i can not stand people who don't know what there talking about. i think the best thing to do is shut your pie hole. you don't work there so you have no idea what is going on. we don't care what you think. if people are standing in line to get a job there, well come and do it then as for you shut the hell up
kingzilla 6/4/2014 5:31:06 AM Report

koolaid - are you kidding me? you are a fool dude, you hve no idea what your talking about . i don't understand why people feel the need to ditch the guys/girls at tenaris, all we want is a fair agreement thats all. and the one's that do all the yapping have dead end jobs so they bash other people . do all of us a solid and keep quiet please because you don't know what your talking about
soowat 6/4/2014 7:49:02 AM Report

kingzilla

I assume you work at Tenaris. If so,what your post shows is that Tenaris is paying a good wage to the illiterate.
HONEST1 6/4/2014 7:52:16 AM Report

@canadians_8

There is nothing wrong with people wanting there fair share!! Remember that Tenaris has been making money hands over fist for years and should be taking care of it's workers!!
The Youth Online Club 6/4/2014 8:35:45 AM Report

It really is sad when people comment with authority or strong opinions on something they do not know much about. But such is life! :)

Good luck to all our Tenaris brothas and sistas! I hope there is good discussion amongst the members at todays meetings. Remember to vote because your voice is important.

And I agree, don't let your rep make decisions without a vote! They work for you.

rockyman 6/4/2014 9:04:16 AM Report

Honest1
if you are making a fair wage based on where you live and education then all you can ask for is cost of living ,just because any company is making money doesn't give people the authority to make more ,it is great thing that a company is making money ,maybe they will be around for a long time then ,I would rather work for a company that is making money then losing it ,look at all the pulp and paper and lumber mills in the north over the last 10 years ,they are gone ,companies are in the business to make money they own it ,they have the liability

youth on line
check your constitution to see if your executive has the authority to make decisions with out a vote ,I bet they do
The Driver 6/4/2014 9:04:37 AM Report

to canadiens_8 ,

If the uniun was abolished like you want and you were able to get my job because you are willing to work for less money, how long do you think you would hold that job before the next scab came in and offered to work for even less? Less and less untill all positions are filled with minimum wage workers. Thats what you want?
Please enlighten us on how you think this would go if you had your way ?
The Youth Online Club 6/4/2014 9:52:22 AM Report

rockyman you were right. The executive does have the right to make that decision. My error. Thank you for correcting that!!
Koolaid 6/4/2014 11:08:14 AM Report

KingZilla:

I was just stating the facts that have been happening with Unions and Workers. The Government is smart for getting out of Business.. getting away from Unions. Why do you think the government wants to get rid of all it's public service workers, because they are making way too much money, that we the tax payers cannot afford. The public service worker got that high wage by forcing the government to give higher and higher wages by threatening strike after strike. When is it going to end, well soon for government workers, example; postal workers, whose Union pretty much lost them their job by forcing the government's hand.
Redneck75 6/4/2014 11:26:24 AM Report

Way to go Tenaris employees. People in here bitching are probably lazy welfare losers.
AlwaysAWinner 6/4/2014 11:57:54 AM Report

>"Why do you think the government wants to get rid of all it's public service workers, because they are making way too much money, that we the tax payers cannot afford"

LOL HOW ABOUT NO

public sector workers make less than private sector workers. get with the times. the days of government working raking in the cash are gone, the government is constantly hiring positions with below market wages, and they struggle to hire good candidates because of it. why makes less working for the government when you can make more working for Microsoft or HP?

seriously this idea that government workers are getting paid big bucks is a completely idiotic claim. go talk to these workers, they haven't had a cost of living wage increase in four years.

god people talk out of their ass too much
Koolaid 6/4/2014 12:35:40 PM Report

Always a winner;

it's true what I said .. the government has slowly been doing this over the last ten years or so.
And for someone talking out of their ass.. your a fine example :0
AlwaysAWinner 6/4/2014 12:50:40 PM Report

that's not true, they haven't been increasing gov wages over the past ten years. have you been living under a rock? OLG doesn't even give COST OF LIVING RAISES, they haven't for the past four years. Why are IT jobs, business jobs, and many other positions at the government below private sector wages? because they government doesn't pay out high salaries anymore, they're salaries are below market average

the truth is people here struggle to hit 20$/hr, so when they hear about people making more than that, they obviously aren't pleased. this town is the definition of mediocrity, get a bad job and ride it out for the pension. that's what this city seems to be all about. pointing fingers at the government is stupid, you think they treat their workers like princesses? think again, if they can't even get a cost of living increase, you bet they're not going to get much else

I'm glad people leave this town. it deserves leaving

kingzilla 6/4/2014 5:13:31 PM Report

redneck 75 you are so true. most of the winners on here are on welfare. they have nothing else better to so they cry about something they will never get.

but we the work force are the fools because we go to work and make a living and pay for these bums to be on welfare
