This is sickening in this city. The law to not release names to protect the victim does no good. Obviously it protects the coward who is hitting the woman. I think he needs his a$$ beat bad. It makes my stomach turn.

Saultbie it is sickening but this sort of stuff is not exclusive to the soo. If it were not for domestic disputes the city police would have nothing to do in many, many cities across this country.
saultbie25 5/29/2014 9:21:41 AM Report

Well obviously it not just in this city. But it happens more in this city than it should. It happens everywhere more than it should and we need to have more severe criminal action for these losers!
asp 5/29/2014 9:57:17 AM Report

I agree we need more severe penalties for these individuals, but the justice system sucks. He will get off with a slap on the wrist and might have to attend somekind of program. On the other hand the spouse usually takes the abuser back, hoping things might get better but it doesn't. If children are involved that's hard and sad!!!

Drugs (including alcohol) a factor in probably 95% of domestics and 99.9% of all other crimes.
dadal 5/29/2014 10:16:45 AM Report

I was just going to post that alcohol is a BIG factor in abuse. Drugs ( both prescription and "illegal" ) come second. And we know there is a HUGE alcohol problem in this city that is ignored until someone dies due to it. Illegal drugs play into issues with younger but alcohol is almost always involved too.

I for one appreciate the reports of these crimes. For years our local rag never reported or would bury these stories. Now with more media outlets, the citizens of the Sault are realizing how bad our crime rate really is.

Sadly, we still can't seem to get a grasp on controlling these crimes.

What is with these men who feel they have the right to brutalize a woman? Go hit a punching bag or a brick wall if you REALLY feel the need to hit something when you're upset.

Women usually can't defend themselves easily, and it speaks for the low character of a man that takes advantage of that fact.

Throw his sorry arse in jail and let him sit on it for a long time. Oh, and let's hope the woman doesn't take him back in "'cause she loves him anyways" Then she's just as dumb as he is.
Dead End Kid 5/29/2014 12:54:36 PM Report

Domestic abuse has been happening since the beginning of man all over the world. Making the penalties more severe will not prevent it. The reality is the problem of domestic abuse will never go away.

You people do understand that no one in this story is guilty of anything, right?

I can't help but notice the police say he is ""alleged" to have assaulted her by pushing her down and striking her" but then state with certainly that "He also threatened to kill her."

I have no way of knowing what actually happened but I do know we are only hearing a tiny bit of third hand information.

Why is one alleged and the other fact? Because the police do not have P.R. people apparently. It is only a matter of time until someone sues the police for slanderous comments like these.

This site should send a reporter to the Court House where the guilty are separated from the innocent. Comment on the facts, not these little write ups made by police officers with less than satisfactory public relations skills.

No doubt that many of these people are guilty, but how many are innocent? The people who are proven innocent have to walk around wondering what others are thinking of them because certainly no one is "reporting" on the innocence of these accused.

This website is such a rag.
