what's sad is that since domestic disturbances happen so often in this city and nobody in a position of power stands up to say anything about the frequency of it, that we have become desensitized to it so much that we make jokes in the comments section...what a sad town we've become

What's also sad is these guys do it over and over and nothing changes
Alystr 5/27/2014 8:53:30 AM Report

Was the water at least hot or something? Never heard of water assault until now.

jahnny if I knew first hand WHO and all the details I would be fully prepared to enact some good ol street justice....but I don't have anything to go on. Hopefully the woman's family can help her out.

markbernard 5/27/2014 9:21:48 AM Report

Also, this doesn't sound like a typical assault... what it sounds like is a joke went over not so great. I would never condone violence against women, but I have also never heard of assault by water... unless I misspoke and he was relentlessly dumping water on her head while mentally berating her, then I apologize for my assumptions.... But if I am way off here then I apologize for the CSI joke.
Sam C 5/27/2014 9:39:31 AM Report

It sounds funny, but it truly is not.

Perhaps Hollywood is partly to blame, as we often witness someone pouring a drink over another's head, or in their lap in movies and TV shows.

We don't know the context, here. Some suggest it may have been intended as a joke but not received as such. Perhaps, but perhaps it was the escalation of an argument.

Whatever the case, the victim felt it necessary to call the Police, and the Police laid charges.

It's not our role to debate the appropriateness of the charge.

A bowl of water poured on someone. How much court time and legal aid will this use up?
What's next throwing a towel at someone.

maybe she lost a wet t-shirt contest when she was younger and his actions brought back bad memories of looseing the contest . you never know ??? This could turn into years and years of councelling ..i hope there is a support group out there for her.

Alcohol was probably a factor as it seems to always be in domestics--maybe could of escalated to worse.

I can not fathom how in todays day and age that people can still be so callous and crude and for a lack of better words...just down right ignorant about abuse. Comments like " Just a bowl of water?" are not necessary, nor are they welcomed.Abuse is abuse is abuse. Plain and simple. Should it really matter if the water was hot or not? Or maybe some of you Northern Loons out there enjoy this type of drama. I do know that ANY TYPE OF UNWANTED contact is a physical abuse when violence is in place or if a person has to continually ask for someone to stop what they are having done to them.
Prrrrrrr 5/27/2014 2:00:52 PM Report

Next time it could be acid....I'm glad they charged him. Doesn't sound like a water fight it was a man humiliating and overpowering someone weaker ... He's a bully.
young guy 5/28/2014 7:42:18 PM Report

Why was there water in the bowl to begin with? Nobody deliberately puts water into a bowl for nothing.

I'm sure we're not getting the full story. Not that it's any of our business or anything. It really isn't.
