NEWS RELEASE

ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

**************************
CHAPLEAU - On May 14, 2014, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Chapleau Detachment was advised of found human remains inside a vehicle in a heavily wooded area 80 kilometres north of Chapleau in the Chapleau Game Preserve.

The OPP attended the area and the remains were removed on May 16.

Foul play is not suspected.

OPP believe that this investigation is linked to a historical missing person case from Southern Ontario reported in 2011.

No names will be released pending confirmation of the identity of the body through DNA testing.

The Chapleau OPP was assisted by the OPP Criminal Investigations Unit, the Emergency Response Team and Ministry of Natural Resources Fire Crews to gain access to the scene.

A joint investigation with the Chief’s Coroner’s Office is continuing.

hold up....foul play is not expected...does that make sense? Found this car in a bush and there are remains in it, but it was totally natural......really? Condolences to the family....hope you can feel at peace now....

maybe they fell asleep at the wheel and went off the road? maybe they swirved to avoid an animal... foul play isn't always the cause...

Just because you were found in a wooded area inside a vehicle does not mean you didn't die of natural causes or self inflicted, perhaps?
Therefore foul play would not be suspected in either one of those instances.

I would not jump to conclusions of found play. A ex of mines father was found 1 month after going missing in his car way back on a dirt road on St Joes island. This was about 18-20 yrs ago. Was not foul play. He died of natural causes.

So many experts, so little expertise.

Human remains sounds like the body was not intact or was badly mangled and he was found in a wooded area near a gaming Park.? Sounds like maybe he was attacked by an animal, was able to make it back to his car then died.
dadal 5/23/2014 6:39:41 AM Report

Since the person was missing in 2011, I wouldn't expect them to be anything BUT remains. The body doesn't stay intact for 3 years after death.

Could be suicide, could be heart attack, we are just guessing.

Let the experts sort that out while the family deals with closure.
