Sault firefighters show support for Orazietti

Saturday, May 24, 2014   by: Staff

Ontario Liberals Committed to Strengthening Public Services

Members of Sault Ste. Marie’s Professional Firefighters met with David Orazietti at his Campaign Office on Great Northern Road before volunteering to put up re-election signs throughout the community.

“David offers a strong voice for our community and has continued to deliver positive results for Sault Ste. Marie year after year,” said Rob Greve, President of the Sault Ste. Marie Professional Firefighters.

“I am very pleased with the Liberal government’s plans to increase on-the-job protections for firefighters. I’ll be voting for David on June 12 because I believe he is the best representative for our city.”

In April, the Ontario Liberal government announced it is helping firefighters and their families by adding six cancers to the list of those presumed to be related to their work.

These changes make Ontario a leader in protection for firefighters and will make it easier for firefighters to access benefits through the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act.

“The Liberal party recognizes the significant sacrifices firefighters make in the line of duty, which is why we are working to do everything we can for their health and safety,” said Orazietti. “Professional Firefighters volunteered their time because they understand the importance of strengthening public services and that the progress we have made is at stake in this election.”

The word for today is "delusional".

Maybe Orazetti could pay my hydro bills...or better yet the Sault firemen.

3, 6, 9 is another goody the Liberals gave Fire and Police. No wonder they support the Liberals. This cost is on your City Property Tax.
BrianTheDog 5/24/2014 5:17:53 PM Report

The firefighters have gotten around a 25% salary increase from the Ontario Liberals in the last few years.

Paid for by the taxpayers!

Who can afford four more years?

all you need to do is take a look at the Sunshine list

Wait until Fremlin brings all his cows to town...word has it that all cows are for Fremlin...its that or the slaughter house for those poor cows.

Total votes for the Liberals by the firefighters is not going to affect the local outcome...and...who says every firefighter will vote Liberal when he/ahse shows up to vote.

Firefighters are fighting for easy government and easy raises.

People on the government payroll shouldn't abuse their position like these people are doing.

Voting and trying to influence votes for your own paycheque should not be allowed.

Gurpy 5/24/2014 6:37:43 PM Report

Firefighters are able to afford the outrageous hydro rates we are forced to pay thanks to our previous premier. Does this mean that if I don`t vote Liberal and I have a fire no one will attend? Just wondering?
asp 5/24/2014 6:45:40 PM Report

I respect the fire fighters but I won't vote for Orazetti. We need changes to Health Care like on improving it, not cutting it.
Jack Ford 5/24/2014 6:46:45 PM Report

This seems like an ad campaign, not a news story.

I support fire fighter's greed I think ? ?
Dictionary 5/24/2014 6:52:35 PM Report

not a liberal supporter but orazietti has done much for our community. unlike bryan "have you seen him" hayes. also, i'm giving away free throat punches to anyone who votes for hudak!
steelworker 5/24/2014 6:54:49 PM Report

Don't forget to put your purse down first.
ThinkAgain 5/24/2014 6:55:22 PM Report

The fire fighters make the money not to worry about foolish spending and high energy costs.

But remember its our tax dollar paying all of them, 2 wrongs don't make 1 right.

then explain political ads? you're saying there should be no advertising for political parties, because the people advertising are on government payroll.

who cares where their paycheck comes from, they're showing who they want to vote for. nothing wrong with that.

you better start finding government employee addresses and start pulling voting signs.

totalgo your right I am a front line worker in the OPS and boy do I see a lot of fat at the top in all Ministries, We took a two year freeze to help the government reduce the provincial deficit instead the deficit increased, hell will freeze over before I vote Liberal. I could careless who the firefighters support their not my god, they just have a job to do. Oh and Gurpy hopefully this never happens but they will put out a fire for you.

Ontario Liberals Committed to Strengthening Public Services and the public servants will have pay freezes for ever with the Liberals, no job's with Hudak's PC, so that leaves me with one choice.
Thim 5/24/2014 8:17:55 PM Report

Firefighters, you know better than this.

Hudak is going to cut 100,000 public service jobs... who do you expect the firefighters to support ?

... and btw, this is a Liberal press release, which they do daily. Mr. Fremlin can release one as soon as he gets his first one done.... and gets his picture taken. If the local PCs can't even organize themselves locally, how do you expect them to represent us in parliament ?

edz 5/25/2014 9:11:20 AM Report

@wandering, we need to know how many Mike Crawley's there are. He, you may be aware is a long time liberal minister and I believe now president of the fed lieb's. He of course also owns International Power Inc Markham which is getting incredible returns on BS wind turbines and solar kickbacks. Liberals making Liberals rich. But hey they'll send another $100 bucks every once in a while to ontarians to compensate our bills and get the votes.
chickenlittle 5/25/2014 8:16:39 PM Report

The Sault Firemen earn their wages. Would any of you care to go into a burning building and carry out a burnt dead body. Not thinking so. Our firemen do an awesome job. Try to respect that instead of bashing them. Not one of you bashers on here would have the guts to do their job. Admittadely, they have their down time, but when the bell does ring........I wouldn't want their job for all the tea in China!!! and neither would any of you bitchers!!!
MYPOINT 5/26/2014 6:11:23 AM Report

I agree that the Fire Fighters do an excellent job that I would never want to have to do but ....

What most people do not realize is that it really does NOT matter who you vote for in your local ridings. How could it? The person representing YOU is only one tiny voice in the party machine. That means that the local rep can promise you the moon and stars but only be able to deliver you a smile when it comes right down to it.

I still believe that it is time for ALL of the hopefuls to sign a document stating that they WILL implement a ' recall ' method so that we can fire any rep, yes including the leaders of these parties, if they fail to keep their promises. We all know why this has never been done in the past ( ie. lies ).

I 'predict' another Liberal minority but who knows, maybe it will be something else in the end.

Just a thought ... I find it strange that most of us can manage to balance out our own household budgets but yet we allow our governments to spend willy nilly?

Have a great day everyone :)
