Come out to the library. Meet Cindy

Friday, May 09, 2014   by: Staff

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library Board is pleased to announce the appointment of Cindy Weir as CEO/Director of Public Libraries.

On Wednesday May 14 from the 2-4 p.m., the Library will be hosting a come and go reception to introduce Cindy to the Sault.

Come to the Centennial Library at 50 East Street and meet Cindy while you have a slice of cake and a cup of coffee.

Cindy brings extensive library experience with her, having worked in a variety of positions from Children’s Librarian to CEO in cities and towns around the province and in Saskatchewan.

She has also served as the manager of client services for Ontario Library Service – North, overseeing the consultants who provide assistance to libraries in the north.

Active in library service on the provincial level, Cindy has participated on a number of committees and held several volunteer positions with the Ontario Library Association (OLA) including former President of the Ontario Public Library Association (OPLA).

She is also a recipient of the Children’s Librarian of the Year award presented by OPLA.

She is a member of the Ontario Public Library Guidelines Monitoring and Accreditation Council as the representative for the Association of Medium Sized Public Libraries (AMPLO).

The Library Board looks forward to working with Cindy to continue providing excellent service to our citizens, patrons and staff as we plan for the future.

I know most people expect to see congratulations. But, unfortunately I've had enough of the "gravy train".

Ms. Cindy Weir made $107,000+ last year as per the official sunshine list. And you can bet the powers that be at city hall paid her even more to "attract good talent to the city".

What a crock. $110,000 to administer the Sault Ste. Marie library. Absolute nonsense.
