NEWS RELEASE

SAULT STE MARIE
POLICE SERVICE

*************************
Today is First Responder Day in Ontario.

On December 11, 2013 the First Responders Day Act was passed into law by the Ontario Legislature.

The following is information from the Act:

Preamble-Bill 15, 2013

First responders are those men and women, who in the early stages of an emergency, are responsible for the protection and preservation of life, property, evidence and the environment. They include police officers, firefighters, military personnel, paramedics, medical evacuation pilots, dispatchers, nurses, doctors, emergency medical technicians and emergency managers.

First responders are volunteers and professionals who have dedicated their lives to public service.  Their life-saving skills often make the difference between life and death. Their public service deserves to be recognized and honoured.

Therefore, Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows:

May 1 in each year is proclaimed First Responder Day.

Chief Davies along with the men and women of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to thank the public for their support over the years and look forward to many more years of serving and protecting our citizens.

Take a moment to thank those men and women who have dedicated their lives to public service.

On a power trip Powerwise?
You need to see women in action cause obviously you have never done so...both are equally competent & it's a day to thank first responders not tear them down with discrimination & prejudice.
I hugged a first responder today, did you? Thanks to ALL first responders & your gender does not matter.

I am a First Responder and have been for over 12 years. Just a note to powerwise . You have an opinion and i respect that. I can assure you that i have worked with a lot of female first responders and they have more than done their "jobs".
Every man or woman that does this kind of work brings their own touch or skill. It is not always based on physical strength.
I am a man who respects ALL first responders !!!

I love how you place the comment "Plz do t hate me that just what I think". Followed up with "lol"

I'm certain your simply out to get a rise out of ppl. And in short all your doing is making yourself sound like an utter fool.
Just make sure when a 1st responder is tending to you in one of those karma-tic situations to tell them you don't want a female helping you out. And plz feel free to update us on how well that situation goes.
