It was cold today. Global warming has been disproved.

Eww....can it just be spring yet?
superior87 4/16/2014 12:43:14 PM Report

UserRich - just stop. For one, it is CLIMATE CHANGE, and second, climate change projections take into account years and periods where it is unseasonably cold.

Stop calling it global warming and stop bringing up global warming every time it is colder than it usually is. It proves nothing other than you don't know the difference between "weather" and "climate".
IgnorantNortherner 4/16/2014 1:02:07 PM Report

superior he didn't invent the term!

The 'climate scientists' and the MSM were calling it that for a couple decades. Then, when it was apparent the global climate was not following their predicted warming models it became 'climate change' almost overnight.

Now, all they have left to convince you is repeating over and over that '99% of scientists agree climate change is real'

THAT IS THE DEFINITION OF CLIMATE!! IT CHANGES BECAUSE THE WEATHER DOES!!

It does not mean that one extra CO2 molecule per ten thousand in the atmosphere is what has caused the change! It was going to change anyway, and there are plenty of more potent greenhouse gases and factors that matter a lot more than CO2.

1. Weather manipulation/GEOengineering, as SLV notes
2. Solar activity
3. All the far more effective GHGs than CO2, such as water vapour
bulletcards 4/16/2014 1:21:28 PM Report

I love the big bad scary terms that are invented. superior is right, the new pc term is climate change. but for years global warming was used until it could no longer be covered up that things were not warming up at all. just like the scientific community tell people not to consume, then years later do consume products. and everything gives you cancer now. Just get over it and enjoy your life how you see fit. We all die eventually in the end.
Moonshiner 4/16/2014 1:31:01 PM Report

One large supervolcano eruption could put enough sulphur particles in the high stratosphere to block sunlight and put us into a ice age for hundreds of years.Thats climate change and its not man made.!00% of scientists will also have to agree with that.
doucher 4/16/2014 1:42:21 PM Report

The planet is getting warmer! The rest of you fools/deniers have no understanding of science and probably believe in God too!
bulletcards 4/16/2014 1:50:54 PM Report

please enlighten us Doucher. And please provide and cite your sources. Unless this is all just your opinion? which your entitled to.

doucher

I have a few basic questions for you.

1. You do know that the IPCC is a politically motivated organization and not one run purely by a science organization.
The U.N.'s main objective is to completely control carbon credits, can you tell me why they are so interested in this?

2. Why did the IPCC change from using "man driven global warming," to "global warming", then to "climate change" and have now introduced the all new "climate pause"?

3. Name me one other science organization that can still claim to be credible and be allowed to function while having their computer models proven without a doubt to be incorrect along with having e-mails intercepted instructing how to cover up the misinformation.

...and if you like lets talk about the science.

How do you expect us to reference all the crazy sh!t we say on here? lol

What's the point of ca comments section if you can't use supporting information to make your point?
doucher 4/16/2014 4:07:08 PM Report

Since I can't post links, just use your favourite search engine and educate yourself about global warming/climate change and science. You can have an opinion on who was the best hockey player ever. You cannot have an opinion on who had the most points ever. Facts are facts. You cannot have an opinion on gravity, evolution, or anthropogenic global warming - the facts are in. If new facts/evidence are presented any reputable scientist will embrace the new evidence because they desire knowledge. Deniers don't want the facts to get in the way.
IgnorantNortherner 4/16/2014 4:12:51 PM Report

doucher you are naive to think Science always gets it right or that special interests don't favour one side of the argument over another. Money talks, now more than ever.

THERE IS ZERO PROOF ANTHROPOGENICALLY PRODUCED CARBON DIOXIDE IS THE MAIN FACTOR DRIVING CLIMATE CHANGE.
thera 4/16/2014 4:18:23 PM Report

Wow, just wow at some of these posts. Science is evolving all of the time. As our technology improves, so does the science. Theories are refined or out and out disproved. Just because it used to be called "global warming" that doesn't mean it has to be called that for all time (or it's modles/predictions). Get your head out of the sand people and educate yourselves.
superior87 4/16/2014 4:20:31 PM Report

Sorry IgnorantNortherner you're wrong.

This is taken from wikipedia:

"James L. Powell, a former member of the National Science Board and current executive director of the National Physical Science Consortium, analyzed published research on global warming and climate change between 1991 and 2012 and found that of the 13,950 articles in peer-reviewed journals, only 24 rejected anthropogenic global warming.[120] A follow-up analysis looking at 2,258 peer-reviewed climate articles with 9,136 authors published between November 2012 and December 2013 revealed that only one of the 9,136 authors rejected anthropogenic global warming."

ONE STUDY out of 9,136. ONE. How deluded do you have to be?

Or are ALL the thousands and thousands of scientific studies that say the opposite of what you believe funded only to further some wrong cause that you don't believe?

Don't be ridiculous. The existence of man made climate change is around a 97% consensus among thousands and thousands of studies in the scientific community.

It is actually insane and beyond the realm of credibility that you or anyone else would still attempt to deny in the face of OVERWHELMING study that this is not occurring. You literally have ZERO legs to stand on when it comes to this, so stop shoveling your ignorance on others. These are STUDIES, done over the course of a decade by thousands of different people. Absolutely ridiculous for you to deny this stuff. It's idiotic.

Sorry for the language but it's true. It is irresponsible to continue to say the things being said here.
superior87 4/16/2014 4:21:54 PM Report

And if you'd like to read the Wikipedia article yourself (why you can't post links in here is beyond me - if they're not selling something or vulgar, who cares? but anyways) look up "Scientific opinion on climate change" on Wikipedia. You'll find the footnotes to source that information and verify it.
IgnorantNortherner 4/16/2014 4:40:58 PM Report

lol superior wikipedia and the UN are not going to convince me of something I've studied for years. I've studied atmospheric chemistry and climate processes and if you want to talk facts we can go all day.

When you start to understand how weak of a greenhouse gas CO2 is (and perhaps only then) you may start to understand why I do not believe the bs.

This video is just for you since on one hand you seem to value science but at the same time mock anyone who disagrees with an establishment view. Head over to youtube and throw in that last part

/watch?v=i1CR0v7dwXU#t=232

"No, no, the science is in and the world is flat!! How dare you question this?!? You're insane!!"

IgnorantNortherner 4/16/2014 5:09:39 PM Report

I'm working OT for you superior -- hope you learn something about the propaganda you've been fed and maybe you won't eat it up quite so quickly next time.

Search the whole quote with quotation marks to find the link. Most appear several places.

"Contrary to reports, global warming studies don’t show 97% of scientists fear global warming"

"The impetus to create this page was the assertion that Maurice Strong wrote the terms of reference for the IPCC Climate Assessments to cover only man-made causes of climate change. Terms of Reference are the de-facto"

"A theory has been proposed that human activity over about the last 150 years has caused a significant rise in Earth’s average temperature. The mechanism claimed is based on an increased greenhouse effect caused by anthropogenic increases in CO2 from burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, cement manufacture, and also from increases in CH4"

Finally superior, if you've ever worked in a university on anything climate related, before you ever got started on your study you would have been warned how scientists who 'prove' AGW are rewarded with more grants and funding for their schools and better placement in journals while those who swing the other way will have a hard time having their study published and will likely be cut off for future funding.
Politics has completely taken over the Science aspect of AGW debate to the point where the scientific method is no longer observed.

There are fossilized forests within the arctic oceans. This planet with its continental drift has been evolving since it was formed.climate change has been going on from the beginning of creation.poles have shifted.ice ages have come and gone.WE must just adapt and go with the flow....that is all !!!
mister p 4/16/2014 6:41:58 PM Report

-meteors
-ring of fire and the recent volcanic eruptions
-nuclear pollution and the rest of the pollution being create from Asian countries
-Fracking- for natural gas - waste of billions of litres of water -tons of chemicals being put into the air and ground
-oil extraction -poor dinosaurs -nuff said
-chem trails -depositing chemicals and particles in the air by way of jets
-we as humans have removed so many trees from this planet, and have added tons of c02 and many other chemicals in the air, even as a small percentage, on a global scale, can be catastrophic and extremely detrimental to our way of life, and the ecosystems that sustain our environments.
so until we waiver in all these facts, instead of trying to blame everything on one specific problem or its reason, things will only get worse.

our north and south pole are supposed to switch, they are late, possibly during the transition years, which we are in, creates these polar vortex things, or "climate change", maybe when we extract so much oil and gas from the ground "mother nature" gets a little upset and moves a little piece and shakes the ground.

a few years back a earthquake which created a tsunami that killed a few people, shifted the planet a few inches, which could also be the reason for the "global warming", we are further from the sun in winter, and closer in summer, hmmm, just a thought.

it seems most people in todays society have what psychologist say is "concreteness of thought" -having a lot of trouble doing the more abstract process of seeing things on a metaphorical level.

look outside the box and use your brain and the world may have a chance.

Who cares about "global Warming or Climate Change anyway ? We and our children and grandchildren will be dead and gone before anything major happens anyway . We are humans and need the things we have and do to survive . I personally do not want to live without electricity , cars , airplanes , jobs like making steel for buildings ,using wood to build houses , fuels to keep warm in the winter etc. This climate change or whatever it is called is just a way to scare people in the developed world. Countries like China , parts of Africa etc. put out more pollution in a week than we do in a year .It is like using a squirt gun to put out a house fire . Research will always continue to find a "fix" to this problem before it gets too bad in the future.

S.M.A.R.T. 4/17/2014 12:58:34 AM Report

If global warming is such an impending threat to the survival of our planet then let me ask the following question. Why is it that our governments, and particularly the U.S. gov't, do not do something about the long lines of waiting and idling cars, unnecessarily held up at the border crossing points between the U.S. and Canada? It is my understanding that border crossing impediments between countries in Europe have been removed whereas here, in the never ending saga of "be afraid, be very afraid", our border to the south has grown more and more difficult to cross. I wonder if a cost/benefit analysis would show that the exhaust spewed is worth the "bad stuff" prevented. I guess what I'm saying is that the powers that be can't have their cake and eat it to. The emissions at our border crossings must be significant and yet the delays continue with impunity. One thing I am sure of is that our resources are finite and with the massive populations of China and India achieving ever higher standards of living, something will have to give. I think we ALL have to smarten up. I'm not going to render any kind of judgment on global warming, but if it means that we'll be able to grow more food in this immensely frigid country, that may not be a bad thing.
S.M.A.R.T. 4/17/2014 1:06:15 AM Report

"...and eat it TOO." I hate spelling errors, including mine. Sorry! Actually just a typo in this case.
thera 4/17/2014 7:13:30 AM Report

Are you really wondering why the government doesn't do anything?? They can't see beyond their own terms (and bank accounts) to make the right decision.
People are way to selfish and in their own little world to care about everyone as a whole. Like the previous poster said: "why should I care about global warming or climate change? My children and so on will be long dead before that happens." This is the attitude that must change or else it's time to pack our bags because we are on our way out.
