NEWS RELEASE

OLG CASINO

*************************
OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie will join millions of people around the world for WWF’s Earth Hour on Saturday, March 29, 2014, switching off lights to raise awareness about climate change and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

OLG will again be participating in Earth Hour as part of its environmental initiative – the Bet On Green program.

OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie employees will participate by turning off exterior signage and dimming unnecessary lighting within the facility from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

“OLG has supported Earth Hour since 2008, and it’s a great complement to our green efforts the other 364 days a year,” said Valerie Braun, General Manager of OLG Casino Sault Ste. Marie. “We’re proud to be an environmental champion in our community.”

OLG has encouraged all employees to participate in Earth Hour at home as well by turning off the lights and unplugging non-essential electronics.

We can all help affect climate change and environmental awareness - whether it is at home, at work or at play.

About OLG’s Bet on Green Program

OLG promotes environmental awareness to employees through the Bet On Green program, designed to lessen the environmental impact of OLG’s operations, increase green awareness among customers and employees, and become a global leader in energy-efficient gaming.

I'm all for turning out the lights for Earth Hour.
Maybe OLG should ensure lights are off ALL the time (when not in use).
And computers.
And TV screens.
It's ridiculous how many screens they have in the building on Foster Drive.
Computers and monitors are left on 24/7 a lot of the times.
Big flat screen TV's are on every floor and are also left on a lot of the times.
It's not just OLG in that building, either, but I'm sure the other areas are probably just as bad.
And this goes for ALL companies. Leave on only necessary lighting, otherwise turn them off at night.

Just my thought.

Typical Liberal hypocrisy, leave the lights on in government buildings and keep jacking the Hydro rates. I'm going outside to throw another tire on the bonfire (sarc).

Climate changes every year, was -24 the other morning and was still no record breaking temperature. They will never be able to predict the weather, as it changes every year.... global warming is a farce. Was thought up by Gore the carbon millionaire, to charge companies MONEY for pollution credits. The more you pollute the more money HE makes. If your company doesn't produce pollutants then yours are sold to other companies. A scam that I do not care to participate in.... every light will be on in my house!!! No such thing as global warming. The earth goes through cycles and every cycle is different!! March 27th 2014, it is snowing, if global warming were true then the last 30 yrs we would have noticed it warming up.... it has not!!

When I see palm trees in my backyard I might become a believer. Maybe Gore or the idiot Suzuki can lend me enough carbon credits to get to the Dominican this year.

Bad Dawg - They haven't called in Global Warming in a few years now. It's now been changed to Climate Change.
scottstewy123 3/27/2014 4:00:31 PM Report

RIGHT ON I WILL TURN ALL MY LIGHTS ON TO CREATE GREENHOUSE GASES TO WARM THINGS UP.

If it were a week maybe it might make a small dent in the energy we use. I don't feel guilty for using energy, is this their ploy to make us think we feel guilty by not using energy for one whole hour?? That will not heal our planet!!

Yes it is a climate change, it changes every friggin day!! Whatever the weather was a week ago or a year ago, doesn't matter. We still can't predict what the weather will be at this time next year, month, or week. They get lucky when they guess correct in what is coming tomorrow for weather. We don't have a Government that is a democracy anymore, its an IDIOCY

Al Gore was wrong!!
I knew it!
steelworker 3/27/2014 4:27:10 PM Report

Ya don't hear much from the Goracle or Stupzuki lately. They must be on tour someplace warm.

I agree with the global warming debunkers. Check out the climate in our solar system, 1 asteroid, a gama ray, a good solar burst and we'll be cleaned off the earth, get real! Let's live in caves until it happens.
Sam C 3/27/2014 8:27:18 PM Report

They'd save more energy by turning off all the gaming machines for an hour.
swirlbird20 3/28/2014 9:02:28 AM Report

Why are people so against this. Its not an attempt to "save the world" its an awareness campaign. And yes climate change is a fact. Our world is warming up based on carbon emissions. No not in a 30 year span, but if you were to track it by century it stayed relatively the same for the last 10,000 years (since last ice age) yet in the past 150 years it has risen about 5 degrees. The fluctuations and day to day or year to year nuances are normal yes, but we do have a problem on our hands long term.
AlwaysAWinner 3/28/2014 2:23:28 PM Report

everyone here is acting like a bunch of rednecks ignoring science.

yeah im sure the under-educated residents of ssm know the real truth about a massive climate change occurring. <- sarcasm

get a clue everyone
