Although the truck looks like it'll be ok.

Question: Was the driver of the Lexus charged with failing to clear snow from back window?

When the experts tell us that the solution to winter driving accidents is to slow down, it really isn't all that simple. You can slow down all you like, but if there's an idiot coming at you like a bat out of hell on poorly maintained roads and highways, then, to use the vernacular, "you's in trouble". So you see, it's not good enough for you to slow down. What we need, in order to ensure that everyone is less likely to cause accidents, even the idiots, are very well maintained roads and highways, and that goes double here in northern Ontario where winter's no picnic. So know this. People are dead because of poor road and highway maintenance brought on by privatization. Privatization brought to you by the MTO and the Province of Ontario.

More dumbasses making my insurance go up even more.
They are paying attention to everything except their driving.
Daydreaming, texting, yapping on a cell, putting on lipstick or makeup, combing their hair, you name it, it goes on daily.

More and more a higher probability of an accident due to distracted driving (not saying this is the case). Stats are showing higher number of accidents due to distracted driving than drinking and driving! Some research suggests that being distracted while driving is equivalent to driving with a blood alcohol level of .08!!!

S.M.A.R.T... but, if EVERYONE -- including the idiots -- were to slow down, it would be that much easier to avoid collisions.

But you're correct, slowing down is not the complete solution. Observing the situation ahead and around you, obeying traffic signals, and generally driving defensively would also help.

live one, is that supposed to be a joke? i would hope so.

Hi S.M.A.R.T.

Privitization is brought to you by the ideological governments that people vote for. MTO implements their agendas. That's how it works.

Accidents will decrease when the police decide they want to enforce traffic laws. I was waiting to turn left on McNabb street from Great Northern Rd this afternoon (at a red) with a cop car beside me. As the McNabb st. green turned to red, there inevitably, was a vehicle going through illegally. This is an intersection where there are crashes frequently. The cop car didn't do a damn thing. If the cops can't enforce traffic laws at the worst intersections in this city - it's going to be drive at your own risk, make sure to give extra time before going through an intersection at a green light.
Lleoy 3/19/2014 9:02:37 PM Report

That's right, the fuzz need to get out of the snow dumps, eating their donuts, and start doing some enforcement on the roads. Get rid of some of these moron drivers. Time to give the fuzz some quotas.
Dead End Kid 3/19/2014 9:26:20 PM Report

Caution lights do not mean anything anymore. Many vehicles speed through the lights just as they are turning red and the problem will never improve, it will only become worse. There are solutions to improving traffic flow while maintaining safety. Where it is feasible have the main streets change to a flashing yellow caution after six pm and the side streets to a flashing red. This has worked for many years in Michigan and will get you to where you are going much quicker.

The less busy intersections should all have four way stops. It is safer then having lights because most people are programed to realize that they have to stop when they approach a four way intersection.Have flashing red lights at the four way would make it safer. For pedestrian crossings something would have to be worked out. For example you would still need lights on Queen at the Essar center so people could cross safely.

It's pretty obvious the lady in the lexus wasn't paying attention. It had nothing to do with the road conditions or the weather. I was there just moments after it happens. She was driving too fast and not paying attention. She nailed that truck, lucky for her it was not moving when she hit it.
Beej 3/20/2014 10:10:07 AM Report

The drivers are so horrible in this town, if the cops actually concentrated on it they would have 5X their quotas.
The speed driven for the conditions, tailgating, illegal turns, the harebrained aggressive moves some make are shocking!

I could not agree more with beej, got friend that won`t come back to the drivers in this town I believe they called them HILLBILLIES !
