STATEMENT

ENVIRONMENT CANADA

***************************
Wind chill warning issued for Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island - Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay - Agawa - Lake Superior Park - Wawa - Pukaskwa Park - White River - Dubreuilville - Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls - Manitouwadge - Hornepayne - Chapleau - Missinaibi Lake

These can occur within minutes.

Sheesh...what happened to global warming??
thera 3/2/2014 12:12:34 PM Report

I really hate comments like this, even if it's a joke - it promotes ignorance. Oh, the temperature is cold here, that must mean it is cooler all over the world...
Ask Australia how cool their summer is. I was reading an article not too long ago about how their bats are just falling out of the sky dying because of how hot it is.
ti-guy 3/2/2014 12:29:46 PM Report

@thera
You think the effects of global warming just means ''warming? Maybe do a little research so that you don't'hate' so much... I mean even jokes ??..sheesh...
CTgasman 3/2/2014 12:32:25 PM Report

The phrase "global warming" should be dropped and replaced with Climate Change.
Pakadeva 3/2/2014 12:37:05 PM Report

CTgasman is right, extreme cold, extreme heat, climate changes that are not normally what you see in any part of the world. It is Climate Change, referred to as Global Warming.
thera 3/2/2014 12:43:48 PM Report

@ti-guy:

Yes, I know, that's why I made the comment I did. Derp.
BTW, I wasn't the one who said global warming, you should be directing your comment to the previous poster.
Smurf 3/2/2014 1:03:50 PM Report

Pretty sure it was a figure of speech....the cold must be getting to y'all.
I'm In 3/2/2014 1:25:25 PM Report

thera the professor on weather, we have had global warming/climate change shoved down our throats the past 20 years, not to mention the ozone layer being depleted, polar ice caps melting, lower water levels in lakes, I wonder what the scientists are going to forecast/predict for this year, so thera people aren't ignorant just a little pissed off and feed up with all the BS they are being fed.
ducky58 3/2/2014 1:43:39 PM Report

Come on KIDS play nice. LOL.
right wing 3/2/2014 2:25:02 PM Report

Come on get the term(s) correct...
Lets start from the beginning...It's Man driven/global warming/climate change/climate pause.

Gotta admire an organization that can change its terminology at a whim yet still keep the brainwashed in line.
Slick73 3/2/2014 2:27:54 PM Report

Whatever happened to acid rain?
Gurpy 3/2/2014 2:30:12 PM Report

One of the posters joked about this weather continuing into July. I would not be a bit surprised!
thera 3/2/2014 3:18:04 PM Report

@ I'm In:

Wow, are you really trying to make fun of me because I don't stick my head in the sand and actually educate myself?? Now that is really ignorant.
HONEST1 3/2/2014 3:48:46 PM Report

We have been spoiled the last fews years with our winters. I can remember this kind of cold weather and snow when I was younger.
stormy shores 3/2/2014 4:21:34 PM Report

Global warming ... soon ice age! Some food for thought.

S.M.A.R.T. 3/2/2014 5:02:47 PM Report

I'll bet the brainiacs who decided to sensationalize the phrase "global warning" to help introduce special fees on just about everything, especially in this idiotic province, are sorry they have since lost a lot of credibility by not going with the expression "climate change" from the get go.

As for extreme winter cold in Northern Ontario, and extreme summer heat in Australia? Nothing new there. But the 24-hour network and internet news orgy that we are assailed by increasingly and relentlessly? Now that's new....and scary....and annoying!
cain44 3/2/2014 5:28:52 PM Report

wow, the things people find to argue about...
cooker_eh 3/2/2014 5:48:46 PM Report

I like milk. Milk is tasty. And cookies too. Milk and cookies are very good and tasty. They are best to have outside on a nice day but I'm gonna have to wait until global warming melts all this crap so I can sit outside without freezing my nuts off.
LAWL 3/2/2014 6:47:48 PM Report

Solar cycles are a big contributor to warming and cooling of the earth. Sun spots and flares have been the lowest since the 15th century.

To the person that was saying something about Australia being too hot, that is only part of Australia. For the first month of summer over half of Australia was covered in snow.

fcubed 3/3/2014 7:24:40 AM Report

Folks, if you want the big bath tubs known as Lake Suberior and Lake Huron-Michigan refilled PLEASE be very thankful for the cold that has ice-capped much of the surfaces-of-the-lakes greatly reducing evaporation; also be gratefull for the extra snow that will provide extra water during the melt.

Recall the all-time low-water-levels on the lakes spring 1964 and the all time high water levels late summer 1986.

Recall the winters between 1964 and 1986 as some were comparable to this winter.
Maleficent 3/3/2014 7:38:16 AM Report

Um, I think they were making light of the severe cold... The first comment anyhow, relax folks, it's only Monday.
Daiv 3/3/2014 7:43:55 AM Report

I'm tired of people complaining about how long this winter is. This is a REAL winter!
The cold sucks, but... isn't that winter is?
It is supposed to be cold and snowy!

I remember there used to be snow for Halloween and Easter was always cold, too. We would always get skipping ropes and they'd snap in the cold air and break. So, really, this one isn't any longer that it should be. Not yet anyway.

(and now somebody will post something about me complaining about complainers).

I am glad when warnings are posted, though, so people have an idea what to expect.
Daiv 3/3/2014 7:52:48 AM Report

I was thinking we should've happy because our lakes might be up this year, but it think there is still an excess of water from before the snow.
It's still good to have the water but might cause some bad runoff.
Have to wait and see, I guess.
GrammaDingbat54 3/3/2014 8:37:35 AM Report

Sure it's cold. Sure everyone's tired of winter and ready for spring. Just be thankful we're not in Regina where it's -67!!

Poeple dont have much of a life when they comment on the wheather this is canada poeple we know its cold daaaa
highway1 3/3/2014 9:44:01 AM Report

Global Warming/Climate Change depends on what your particular science is.
If alarmist Al Gore and company is to be believed, we're all broiling and drowning right now.
There is no proof the earth has warmed one degree since the Inconvenient Truth propaganda film was released.
Just ask the warming theorists who got stuck in the Antarctic ice that wasn't there.

The science isn't final on any of it.
Brianne 3/3/2014 11:37:18 AM Report

Hang onto your shorts...... this extreme cold is supposed to last through to the end of march...... ugh

eadiecougs 3/3/2014 12:58:01 PM Report

1972 low minus 35 and nobody talked about global warming.

Crimson 3/3/2014 1:10:21 PM Report

Quit berating others for their opinions...do some research to know that this is a weather pattern and has occurred in the past...while global warming is affecting our planet, to which we have ourselves to blame, it is not entirely responsible for our current weather conditions...in MY opinion, people need to stop acting like they are in grade school and start showing some dignity and self-respect by respecting others
Tag33&1/3rd 3/3/2014 1:11:59 PM Report
