Grisly knife attack in China leaves 28 dead

Saturday, March 01, 2014   by: SooToday.com Staff

At least 28 people are dead and more than 100 injured following a knife attack late Saturday evening in Kunming, China.

Witnesses told authorities that a group of men, armed with long knives and mostly wearing black, rushed into the Kunming railway station and began attacking bystanders.

Reports indicate that five of the attackers were shot dead by police, and authorities are on the search for five others believed to be involved in the grisly attack.

Although the incident appears to be premeditated, no group or organization has claimed responsibility.

The official Xinhua news agency has quoted Chinese President Xi Jinping as stating: "Severely punish in accordance with the law the violent terrorists and resolutely crack down on those who have been swollen with arrogance."

How does this get thrown in with local news?

No offense, but there are far bigger stories right now on the global stage, like, say, Ukraine falling apart and Russia giving its 'go-ahead' for its troops to move in.

We both have grizzly bears, is that it?

Seems to be a new popular trend .I honestly don't care what weapon is used Murder is Murder ,ask the Family of the dead Child if they would have preferred a gun or a Knife had kill their kid

We are desensitized after Years of having Mass Murders, Bombings etc in our face 24/7 .The value of a life seems to have diminished or is non existent in some societies .

And before we look across the Border or Ocean lets not forget the body parts a cpl years ago of a body hacked up and put in garbage bags .

We have raised a whole new generation of "The world owes me" "Why the hell is my Welfare check not here yet" etc.

Bottom line is the weapons of choice are not the issue ,the issue is the why of it.

I'm thinking the news of the latest brown water in East end and that damn PUC with all them windows and lights oh yes and Cops letting crooks right back on the streets THAT is whats to blame . Never us as Parents or Family of these People.

Willoweep. Cops don't let the criminals back on the street.. the lawyers, Crown and Judges do.. Their giving junkies and drug dealers weekend sentences so they can be out all week doing crime. Point the finger in the right direction.

I thought is was apparently that statement about Cops letting crooks right back on the streets along with the new PUC and brown water were to blame ,made it pretty apparent that was all said facetiously ...guess not.

It may not be local news, HOWEVER, I am sure we have local Chinese residents in this city that could be visiting there, could have family there, etc. As someone else mentioned, it is trending & we should be aware of our world, not just our STREET! Sad sad news. Prayers to all concerned.
