Wynne calls on Federal Government for fairness

NEWS RELEASE

GOVERNMENT OF ONTARIO

**************************
Premier Kathleen Wynne called on the federal government to stop taking unilateral actions that hurt the people of Ontario.

In its budget yesterday, the federal government cut $641 million in transfers that help support programs the people of Ontario rely on.

This cut is in addition to the more than 110 actions the federal government has taken since 2006 that have hurt people and businesses across Ontario.

In recent years, the federal government has eliminated funding for programs in health care, environmental protection, community safety, and skills development and training that Ontarians rely upon to create jobs and grow the economy.

Ontario has stepped in to fill in the gaps to protect the high-quality programs and services the people of Ontario deserve.

For example, the province is moving ahead on its own made-in-Ontario pension plan because the federal government unilaterally ended discussions towards any agreement on enhancing the Canada Pension Plan.

The province has been calling on the federal government to be fair to Ontario, and work collaboratively on key priorities including:

  • Enhancing the CPP so Ontarians can retire with dignity and security;
  • Supporting development in the Ring of Fire to help create jobs and strengthen the economy;
  • Providing predictable long-term transit and affordable housing funding so Ontario can build modern transit systems and support the province's most vulnerable people.

Protecting critical programs and services is part of the Ontario government's plan to invest in people, build modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.

"The new budget is yet another example of the federal government making arbitrary decisions that hurt Ontarians. We want to protect the world-class public services the people of Ontario expect and deserve, but we need the federal government to live up to its responsibilities" says Wynne.

It's OK folks. Once the dust settles on the eHealth failure, the Ornge mess , the gas plant fiasco, green energy debacle and goodness knows what else it will all be good. All we need is a few billion from the Feds.

She`s worried about hurting the people of Ontario?? PULLEASE!!! Early in 2013 she wanted to eliminate the SPECIAL DIET for anyone on Ontario Works or odsp! That in itself could`ve KILLED people!!! Not to mention the strain that would`ve been placed on our already fragile and costly health care system! I am so tired of the LIBERAL B.S. and pre election "fairy tales" & false hopes they attempt to plant in the minds of some very GULLIBLE Ontarians who FOOLISHLY continue to vote them in election after election! WAKE UP PEOPLE! If you continue to trust people who CANNOT be trusted, that makes you a FOOL! Haven`t the Liberals done enough damage???

IMO, The only other option is the Conservative PC/Torys, Green Party or NDP. IMO, The Torys are not much of an option. NDP would be my choice. Its been years of PC and Liberal, they deserve another chance and have governed in the past.

I will never pick Hudak as all he wants to do is make the big companies rich and the poor completely broke. There will be no middle class. If he makes changes to the Ontario labour laws, which, he has indicated that he will, then we will all be working for min wage.

He also wants to sell off and/or privitize every revenue driven business that Ontario has. LCBO, OPG etc... How does that fix the Ont economy and where will he get future yearly revenue increases from when the Private company gets there cut.

The biggest issue we have is the price of Power and without buying out the 25 year contracts for the Green energy ACT and fixing existing Power infrasture, then no manufactures will come back. Who ever is in Politcial Power needs to fix this. Cutting labour costs and trying to kill the unions is the wrong way to go about it and is political suicide, IMO.

The federal Tory PC's have also had a lot of waste, various scandles and put 300,000 people out of work from cutting government programs/jobs that took centurys to put in place. How does that help the economy and create jobs? People forget that before the Ontario liberals came to power they inherited a 7 billion dollar debt from the Torys in 2003.

Every Political Party that has a stake in this country and/or province should focus 100% of there energy on creating jobs.

As bad as the liberals are, they still get my vote (NDP First) as the other options are worse. I think wynne has the right approach as Mcguinty had good ambitions, but terrible executions and not enough over site on alot of issues, ehealth, orange, gas plant scandles, etc... She does not seem as careless as he was. She been trying to undo his mess..

As far as this article goes... Harper is just playing politics to help boost Hudaks image and the Ontario Torys image and driving the liberals to the ground by revoking money and trying to bankrupt the Ontario government even worse then it already is.

The federals will have a surplus of money by next year, meanwhile people are losing there jobs... Way to spend our tax dollars Harper. JMO...
