Houses ablaze near Blind River (3 photos)

At 5:00 p.m. today a loyal reader travelling highway 17 east near Blind River was held up by multiple fire trucks and police vehicles on the road fighting a house fire. 

They also reported seeing a second house on fire further down the highway, a short distance away. (seen below).

SooToday.com will update this story when more information becomes available.

There are some old abandoned houses along hwy 17 near Blind River. Could've been a controlled burn.

usually if they were using a structure as a training aide, they would only do one at a time.... and would most likely have been posted prior to the burn. I could be wrong though...

I used to live in Blind and these houses are not abandoned. People live in these houses.

The house pictured here had 2 living units. In spite of the material loss, thankfully nobody was hurt. On my way back to the Soo on Sunday I did notice that one of the roadside abandoned houses was now a smouldering ruin. It was one of the old derelict houses closest to the highway east of Iron Bridge.
