New school to be constructed on Sacred Heart property

NEWS RELEASE

HURON-SUPERIOR CATHOLIC
DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD

*************************
SAULT STE. MARIE - The Board of Trustees of the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) has voted in favour of constructing a new school in Espanola in partnership with the Conseil Scolaire Catholique du Nouvel-Ontario(CSCNO).

“As a resident of Espanola I am particularly excited that this project is taking another step forward. We have worked with our coterminous Board since last year on accommodation needs in Espanola, and thanks to our common goals, the Catholic community – English and French – in Espanola is closer to having a modern learning facility,” said HSCDSB Chair Lindsay Liske.

The proposal, which has been a top priority of both Boards’ Capital Plans submitted to the Ministry of Education, will see a new facility for JK - Grade 8 HSCDSB students and for JK - Grade 12 CSCNO students constructed on the current Sacred Heart property and the former St-Louis de France Catholic Church site.

“After careful consideration, the staff and administration of both Boards determined this was the best proposal. We believe this project will enhance the Catholic education experience in Espanola,” said HSCDSB Director of Education John Stadnyk.

If the proposal is approved by the Ministry, it is anticipated that construction of the new school will begin in 2015.

haha get mad because the article discusses Espanola? pathetic

Espanola is part of the surrounding community, the HSCDSB handles that area as well as the Soo.

Can taxpayers really afford another school? I thought Ontario was broke...or close to it.
soowat 1/29/2014 9:45:53 PM Report

If you can't put forward facts dig out some obscure word like coterminous hoping that everyone will think you're sooooo smart that you have a clue where of which you speak
Jimssm 1/30/2014 7:13:52 AM Report

dust...

Wicket was talking about the headline, which is misleading because 'Sacred Heart property' is at the corner of East Street and Wellington.

So relax... there is no need to troll every post.
