It is a great system when you can breach probation 3 times and still walk the streets. Would it not be prudent to put him behind bars after THE FIRST BREACH?
kaima 1/20/2014 9:06:14 AM Report

why doesn't the law give these offenders more stiff sentences?????
I'm In 1/20/2014 9:09:31 AM Report

They do it cause the courts/jails are full/backlogged, the provincial government is broke and can't afford to house them, so the criminals know they can get away with committing crime.

It would appear from the numerous articles with these fine citizens out and about while on probation etc.
That our Judicial System has run amuck.
And I have not read anything anywhere about a plan to fix it or even review it.
With an election on the horizon one would think at least one political party would have this issue as a MAJOR campaign issue..

the breaches happened all at the same time, not on three separate occasions.

Pakadeva 1/20/2014 11:51:32 AM Report

The Probation/Parole officers should be more diligent in violating them after the second breach, that's pretty much standard in other provinces. Also, the courts, if they can't house them should set the fines so high they will have to sell their last shirt to pay it & have more house arrests in place. Yes, they likely know by now what their sentence will be, our courts are too predictable!

Just keep letting him out again and again DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Sometimes they just need to be left there. This guy and his brother are quite a pair.
janbo 1/20/2014 12:23:02 PM Report

Hey "MOM" maybe you need to google his name and check out his record. You'll still be defending him when he really injures someone or WORSE!
willoweep 1/20/2014 12:32:02 PM Report

The average cost of keeping a prisoner for 1 day is $175-200 the increase in Provincial Prisioner population ,has increased app 25% in last three years .

Do the math ,what do we do ? build more Jails/Prisons?

I don't like that idea either ,more Taxes.

I also don't like the idea of paying for room and board for these losers who get free medical care including Dental ,Glasses etc on OUR Dime.

But I also don't have the answers .

Anyone ? I wonder how effective house arrest really is ? do they have those ankle bracelets here?
psjj 1/20/2014 12:41:10 PM Report

I'm all for human rights. Especially mine. The key is not Taxes it's Texas. Have a look at their system. Bring in the harshest penalties we can for the meatheads that can't respect person or property.

The Justice system has been a JOKE for a LOT OF YEARS.... Now the Government and Management has made THE PRISONS AND JAILS A JOKE. Thank you for hiring all these tree huggers and idiots to run the jails. Criminals are being treated better than the public. Why would they stop breaking the laws. What a joke this justice system has become and the people running it. Totally disgusted and disapointed.
