Weather warnings remain for much of SooToday country

Tuesday, January 07, 2014   by: Staff

8:43 p.m.

Snow squall warning continued for:  Agawa - Lake Superior Park- Searchmont - Montreal River Harbour - Batchawana Bay.

Snow squalls tonight through Wednesday.

Northwest winds off Lake Superior continue to generate snow squalls. Local snow amounts of 20 to 30 cm per 12 hours are possible.

Sudden nil visibilities in heavy snow and blowing snow are also expected.

There is potential for the snow squalls to become nearly stationary across the region.

If this happens, total local snowfall amounts of 50 to 75 cm are possible by Wednesday evening.

Motorists should alter travel plans accordingly given the dangerous winter driving conditions in the area.

Snow squall warning ended for:

Sault Ste. Marie - St. Joseph Island

Fantastic news for the Sault, but it's still blowing pretty bad out there.

Well I got over a foot but it's all blowing and drifting snow, the Hwy. is still closed, the question remains, how do the plow operators get to work if the Hwy. is closed.
