Beware of non-sanded intersections. Please turn on your lights when driving. Daytime running lights don't light the rear of your vehicle. Police included, please. Just saw a few Police cars that should know better in whiteout conditions.

Good point on the non-sanded intersections!

Snow removal till now IMO has been quite good, however sanding has been brutal! I prefer snow left on the road if I had the choice over ice!!!!! Grater went by my place several times in the past few days....not one sand truck....new municipal skating rinks?
Bad Dawg 1/7/2014 4:42:27 PM Report

I am sure glad our taxes went to local contractors. Guess they under estimated how much sand/salt it would take to keep our roads clear.
Right of Centre 1/7/2014 5:09:11 PM Report

I found many well-sanded intersections and hills driving around. Side street intersections, and recently cleared intersections not so much. Overall, not bad. If it's not dark with sand, slowing about half a block away worked well.

Maybe, some of you morons should clean off your windows, and headlights. And try slowing down a bit,

Driving on Pine Street be careful when you get towards F.H.Clergue, the snow is blowing off their field causing 0 visibility. Was on the bus and we couldn't see anything at all, not even the houses or anything to the left and right of us.
willoweep 1/7/2014 6:59:10 PM Report

Lleoy, will that make the roads less slippery? Why wasn't I told ?

Yes there are People who are just an accident waiting to happen, but lets be fair.

The roads ARE slippery I watch the Graders go past my House too and they leave behind glare ice .

At one time if you saw the Grader the Salt or Sand truck was not far behind ,it doesn't seem that way this Year .
Bad Dawg 1/7/2014 8:34:00 PM Report

trunk road/ hwy17 is a skating rink... no salt and a little sprinkle of sand. A city official must live in the same neighborhood as you!
Ski-Dude 1/7/2014 9:05:48 PM Report

I drive a few long routes several times a day and there was no sand on any of them at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 5pm, and 7pm. I've seen a few cars sliding through intersections and bailing into the snow banks trying to stop (even at low speeds!). Even saw a school bus going squirrely. I have top of the line studded winter tires and I've had a few slip-n-slides on the glare ice at low speeds. Still no sand on my road since the wee hours of this morning. If nothing done by morning, the city will be hearing from me.

There are temperature limits where salt does not work. Its a waste of time and money when its really cold.
Ski-Dude 1/8/2014 8:45:55 AM Report

Woke up to an awesome site this morning....sand! Not just on my street but my whole route!
