Cushy goodness comes with baby Best's new ride

Friday, January 03, 2014   by: SooToday.com Staff

When the parents of the first baby born this year in Sault Ste. Marie picked up a new vehicle they bought from Northside Toyota today they had no idea they would also be picking up an extra surprise or two.

As reporter earlier by SooToday.com, Breleigh Everett Best was born a few hours into 2014 at Sault Area Hospital.

Her mom and dad are originally from the Sault but now live and work in White River with Breleigh's to older sisters, Jayla and Madelyn.

When they went to pick up their new Toyota Sienna today, Breleigh's mom and dad, Sarah and Paul also picked up a whole passel of diapers courtesy of the folks at Northside Toyota on Great Northern Road.

Luckily the Sienna has plenty of storage room for the family of five to travel home with all their Christmas loot and all those diapers, too.

"The family of five will be travelling back to White River in their new All-Wheel Drive Toyota Sienna with the back filled with diapers courtesy of Northside Toyota," said Mario Palumbo, Northside Toyota Dealer Principal today. "Northside Toyota would like to congratulate the Best Family with the arrival of the Sault’s first New Year’s Baby."

Northside Toyota was kind enough to share a few shots of the family picking up the new Sienna and all the diapers.

I think this is great, but I just can't help but think of the other families who get nothing.
Just my thoughts.

I think this is great too, but I think that as a community we should do more for the first little one of the year.

It's done all over, to celebrate the first child of the year. My niece, in NS, had the first child of the year in NS & she was given a LOT more than diapers, however, this is very generous of the car dealers, nice touch. My niece's little boy was given tons of supplies & gift certificates, etc. The source I think was the hospital itself, though I can't swear to that. Congratulations to the Best family!

They should have bought the Avalon and maybe Toyota would have thrown in a couple of soothers with the diapers.

I dont see the big deal really. I think the value of the items given would have more impact on those in need. Congrats on the new arrival though :)

If you feel there are other newborns who would be more worthy of free gifts, perhaps we should be looking for the New Year's first born homeless child.

That is a great idea. Many dont think that happen in the soo when indeed it does. I see it all the time my field of work.

I also did not say any new born deserves anything. Why not starts a education fund for the baby, That would benefit the baby more then mommy and daddys new car. JMO

Before all of the negative comments about who does and doesn't deserves something maybe read the article a little better. The parents BOUGHT the toyota and the nice people at Northside bought them diapers for the new baby.

I received a coffee cup full of candy when I bought my vehicle from them. I was on cloud nine for a week!
Daiv 1/3/2014 7:51:17 PM Report

I knew they bought the vehicle. I was speaking generally. It's great that the first born gets stuff, but it makes it seem like the other babies born all year are less of a big deal.
I don't know. Just me being cynical, I guess.

Let's look at the whole story. Frank is Sarah's step-father. Is this really news worthy,

I think this is a great thing that they did for this family. Congrats to the family and its nice to see the owners care about their clients

Rat_tails right on, all you posters about helping those in need get away from your computer keyboards and start volunteering your time to help those in need.

What a great PR move..

My bad, misread, thought they got the car. And as a matter of fact I do volunteer my time 3 days a week for 6 hours :)
