Names released in Espanola fatal collision

ESPANOLA, ON – On December 27, 2013 at 8:15 p.m., members of the Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of Anishinabek Police Service-Sagamok Detachment responded to a collision involving a motorized snow vehicle and a pedestrian on Lee Valley Road, Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.
Both the snowmobiler and pedestrian died in the collision.

The male pedestrian, has been identified as Christopher Labelle (43 yrs), from Webbwood, ON.

The male snowmobiler, has been identified as Royal Peters (58 yrs) from Massey, ON.

The investigation is continuing with the assistance of an OPP Collision Reconstructionist and an OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator.

It is believed that speed and weather conditions were factors in the collision.

Post mortems will be conducted in Sudbury on Monday, December 30th and Tuesday, December 31st, 2013.
