Wednesday, December 25, 2013   by: SooToday.com Staff

NEWS RELEASE

OFFICE OF THE
PRIME MINISTER
OF CANADA

***************************

OTTAWA -Prime Minister Stephen Harper today issued the following statement on the Christmas season:

“Merry Christmas, everybody.

And Happy New Year too!

This is a wonderful season.

A time for joyful reunions with family and friends, a time to reflect on our good fortune, and a time to remember those in our midst who have less.

As we count our many blessings, let us also give a moment to our brave men and women in uniform.

I’d ask you to offer a thought and a prayer for them and their families.

Friends, as Canadians from coast to coast to coast prepare for this joyous season, I want to wish you and your loved ones a safe and happy holiday, a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and a prosperous New Year.”

***************************

Merry Christmas Canada, still no Vaseline for you when I stick it to you in 2014.
RonBes 12/25/2013 3:46:51 AM Report

It will be merrier in 2015 when we see him and his party gone.

I thought she was holding a rabbit, but I went to the link at Awkward Family photos (how funny is that) and it says she is holding a chinchilla. Who holds a chinchilla anyway.
Also the banister is not decorated very well, there is all sorts of wrong with this photo.
Ok that is all.

Merry Christmas Soo oh how I luv you!

To all the Harper haters: move to Greece now if you want a bankrupt government. Oh, you have some hope, Wynne is still our premier!
B Boy 12/25/2013 8:18:50 AM Report

Can you responders not even be positive or civil on Christmas morning?

Regardless, I wish you all peace, health & happiness.
highway1 12/25/2013 8:21:34 AM Report

Harper needs to be civil the other 364 days in the year.
Wally.01 12/25/2013 9:13:16 AM Report

Well said Mosquitos. Stephen Harper has maintained the status quo in Canada. We are blessed more than most nations. We have so much and there is so little gratitude. I for one am proud of our Prime Minister and wish him and his family and government only the best in 2014.
jojoe71 12/25/2013 10:19:03 AM Report

I have a therory that no matter whom is the prime minister the negative comments would be the same. I for one am quite content to live in Canada. so many countries are in civil war or going bankrupt Or are led by dictators. maybe all you haters should go for a holiday to north Korea or Syria or any country in Africa. I'll bet you'll be kissing the ground when you get off the plain....if you make it back..:(
highway1 12/25/2013 10:33:50 AM Report

"We are blessed more than most nations."
Unless of course you're a third world First Nation in Harper's Canadian utopia.
Open your eyes.
Merry Christmas.
Beej 12/25/2013 10:45:07 AM Report

Harper can stick his fake wishes where the sun don't shine, and, kiss my royal Canadian ass!
crashed13 12/25/2013 10:47:22 AM Report

Have to hand it to him, he did not cave in and used the now evil "Merry Christmas" Phrase.
ryanc 12/25/2013 11:10:51 AM Report

no he didn't, he clearly wrote "happy holidays" On the card. And I'm glad.
steelworker 12/25/2013 11:40:40 AM Report

The man did say "Merry Christmas" along with a few other greetings. Also I think that some people should have asked for work boots for Christmas.
Slick Nick 12/25/2013 1:21:02 PM Report

Shove it Harper.

How I am to have a great new year with and your stupid ways of running a government.

Seriously, Shove it.

steelworker 12/25/2013 4:07:24 PM Report

Maybe you can go back to school and learn English in the New Year.
Tom_Bom 12/25/2013 7:43:58 PM Report

Shut up Harper, no one cares.
lookaround 12/25/2013 8:55:47 PM Report

Mosquito we have a bankrupt canada, Take a look at the debt since 2006
lookaround 12/25/2013 8:58:24 PM Report

I cannot wait till 2015.
steelworker 12/25/2013 9:06:18 PM Report

...for another majority government?
lookaround 12/25/2013 10:08:19 PM Report

Harper really didn't win a true majority but then again a few more votes to the left and he will be out..thank goodness we can have our country back ..again. He has angered more than who voted for him so that makes him an "out" candidate. Do the simple math.
judoka 12/26/2013 12:13:34 PM Report

I cannot believe there are still people that support Harper!! How naive are you? Is there no one in your family that is affected by his bullshit.....cutting back on Medicare, do you have a senior mother or father that can't afford to heat their house, do you have kids that can't afford to go to school because of high tuition fees, but the government continues to push for immigration and bring other workers in, maybe somebody in the military that has no support from this rotten government.....I could go on and on. IF you are happy with Harper, well continue to leave in your fantasy world, the rest of us are ready to lynch him and his cronies!!
Pakadeva 12/26/2013 12:16:35 PM Report

Government aside, he was CANADIAN enough to say Merry Christmas as his very first statement! I appreciate that!
At least he's not scared to let Canada know who we are. Thank you Mr. Harper & Merry Christmas to all!
steelworker 12/26/2013 3:51:22 PM Report

Actually the Conservatives are throttling back on immigration (remember the Liberal mantra-immigrants=votes). Maybe you can roll that in with the Libs sending Canadian troops off to the Middle-East with the wrong camo uniforms and outdated equipment to fight the Khadr familys' relatives.
judoka 12/28/2013 1:46:42 PM Report

Yea, throttling back on immigration. Heres how it went down. Back in the old days, one person could work, and a family could consist of 12 kids easily. The father worked, could afford to heat the house.....provide food, and give a relatively comfortable living. So, why have things changed? Well, the government taxes us to death ( with the exception of big business ). So now, we cant afford to have one person work, and raise 12 kids. Then the government in their infinite wisdom says...we are not repopulating fast enough. ( I wonder why jackassess....CAUSE NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO ). So, lets bring in more immigrants...give them jobs, tax benefits, etc.....Now they are realizing how much of burden they are on the health care system ( doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out ), and now they have decided to throttle back. Well, if they didn't tax us to death, perhaps Canadians could have more kids, and repopulate faster. But like I said, anything, and I mean anything, the government gets their hands into, they screw it up so bad, we are paying for it for years to come.
