Welcome to's Live Blog of tonight's Ontario Hockey League game between the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds and the Oshawa Generals. We're live at the Essar Centre with updates throughout the game tonight.

9:45 p.m. Update

Greyhounds coach Sheldon Keefe credited Matt Murray with being an integral part of the win while the Greyhounds capitalized on their opportunities.

Oshawa coach D.J. Smith felt as though the Generals deserved a better fate in the game with the number of scoring chances they produced.

9:16 p.m. Update

With Daniel Altshuller on the bench for the final 43 seconds foer Oshawa, the Greyhounds don't give up a shot and hold on for the 3-0 victory. THe Generals outshoot the Greyhounds 40-23 in the game

9:10 p.m. Update

Generals back to the power play as Tyler Ganly is off for delay of game after shooting the puck over the glass in the Greyhounds zone. Just 25 seconds into the penalty, Oshawa's Bradley Latour takes a cross checking penalty and the two teams will now play four-on-four

9:05 p.m. Update

Joe Manchurek misses the net high on a shorthanded breakaway and then follows up but can't put the rebound off the end glass past the Greyhounds netminder and the score remains 3-0 Sault Ste. Marie with 4:56 left

9:02 p.m. Update

the Greyhounds kill off the penalty to Jenkins and go the power play as Cole Cassels is now off for holding

8:58 p.m. Update

Kyle Jenkins off for tripping and the Generals back on the power play for the second time this period

8:52 p.m. Update

Greyhounds kill off the minor to Spinozzi and remain up 3-0 on the Generals

8:48 p.m. Update

Kevin Spinozzi of the Greyhounds off for hooking at 4:57

8:41 p.m. Update

Third period is about to get underway and we have a goaltending change for Oshawa. Daniel Altshuller is now between the pipes, replacing Ken Appleby, who stopped 14 of 17 shots through two periods

8:22 p.m. Update

Blake Speers with a tap in on a back-door feed from Sergey Tolchinsky with 13.6 seconds left in the period for the power play goal. Tolchinsky with a great one-touch pass on a feed from Jared McCann to hit Speers in tight....3-0 Sault Ste. Marie through 40 minutes. Oshawa holds the edge in shots by a 27-17 margin

8:20 p.m. Update

1:52 left in the second period and Michael Dal Colle of Oshawa is off for tripping

8:16 p.m. Update

Just under five minutes left in the second period and the Greyhounds remain up 2-0

8:06 p.m. Update

Alex Gudbranson of the Greyhounds and Justice Dundas of the Generals with a spirited bout. Nt long after the fight, Darnell Nurse is off to the openalty box, sending Oshawa to their first power play of the second period

7:56 p.m. Update

Greyhounds get the first man advantage of the second period as Michael Dal Colle trips Alex Gudbranson. Greyhounds can't capitalize

7:37 p.m. Update

One period in the books at the Essar Centre asn Sault Ste. Marie holds a 2-0 lead over Oshawa. The Generals lead 12-10 on the shot clock

7:33 p.m. Update

Mitchell Vande Sompel takes a holding penalty for Oshawa and the Greryhounds head to their third power play of the period

7:31 p.m. Update

Oshawa with a pair of solid chances on the power play as Cole Cassels hits the post from the right circle high glove on Matt Murray while Bradley Latour is stopped in tight. Moments after the power play, Sam harding is turned aside on a pertial break by Murray

7:28 p.m. Update

Jared McCann takes a loose puck in the right faceoff circle and beats Appleby high short (glove) side...2-0 Sault Ste. Marie...shortly after the goal, Darnell Nurse takes a charging penalty ands Oshawa is off to their first man advantage of the evening

7:27 p.m. Update

Greyhounds back to the power play as Brian Hughes of Oshawa is off for boarding

7:23 p.m. Update

Josh Sterk of Oshawa takes the first penalty of the game and David Miller with a great chace turned aside midway through the Greyhounds power play. The Miller chance was the lone Greyhound threat in the man advantage

7:17 p.m. Update

Blake Speers cuts out from the left corner and beats Ken Appleby with a shot from the left circle glove side...1-0 Saullt Ste. Marie

7:09 p.m. Update

First period is underway


Lineups are set for tonight. Scratches for the Greyhounds are Andrew Fritsch (injury) and Jean Dupuy (illness). Oshawa's scratches are Jimi Kuronen, Matt Hore, Scott Laughton and Shawn Mabley.

Forward NIck Pastorious is no longer on the Greyhounds roster. Word from the team is that he has gone home and requested a trade. Will have further comment from the team post-game
