Public service announcement
 
City outdoor rinks open today
 
The City of Sault Ste. Marie operated outdoor boarded skating rinks, and the Art Jennings Speed Skating Oval will be open for public use starting Friday, December 13, 2013.

The rinks will remain open weather permitting.

Please refer to on-site signage at all outdoor rinks.

Operating Hours:

Esposito Rink – Queen Street West Merrifield Rink – Henrietta Street Anna McCrea Rink – Mark Street

Seasonal Hours:

Monday to Friday – 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday & Sunday – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Holiday Hours:

December 21 to January 5 – 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Note: Ice rinks will close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. All rinks are closed on Christmas Day; however, the rinks will be open on New Year’s Eve and Day.

Art Jennings Speed Skating Oval

Monday to Friday – 12 noon to 4 p.m. & 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday & Sunday – 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Note: The Oval will close at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The Oval is closed on Christmas Day; however, the Oval will be open on New Year’s Eve and Day.

just a few outdoor rinks left. kids dont want to use them anymore. bringing up a generation of children who are computer game savy but have few life skills.

Sure hope that the kids will get out and enjoy all the work that goes into maintaing these rinks. Boy, back in the day we were skating all the time and now the kids have a great place to warm up even. Gosh my son even works security at one so the kids have a safe place to enjoy.... I say to parents strap on the skates and get the kids moving !!!

Kids still use these rinks all the time. It's a great past time. Even better now that they have the security.
